England 2018

Can't even compare the nations.

Bottom line is Scousers hate England, mainly because of Thatcher. Move on. It's gone, finished.

I've never known so many people take so much delight in their own nation's failures. Unfortunately you don't live in a bubble, and what happens in London, Manchester, Newcastle and Birmingham, also effects Liverpool. A World Cup would generate income, it would generate jobs, it would revitalise an awful lot of things in this country, including people who live in Liverpool.

Mind you if we had a decent stadium and were part of the bid, that may change things somewhat.

a sweeping generalisation

What do you mean? Why do you hate England? Say Thatcher, go on please. I want you to say Thatcher.

I simply hate the concept of a country divided between London and it's immediate outlying areas and "the rest". Point in case is how London treats the Scottish with contempt, yet it's a part of Great Britain when it suits them.

The North/South divide is well and truly alive. I actually think Thatcher did some good for this country! She just cocked up some other stuff. She's nowhere near the "she-bitch" people make her out to be.

Saying that, how Thatcher relates to this discussion is actually beyond me!

Why are you that bothered?

Why? Because having a World Cup in your country, whether you lot like it or not, really adds something special into that country. You guys are massively in the minority if you think that this is a good thing.

I'm more bothered about the sad individuals who think it's hilarious because it's England. It's just pathetic and I'm sorry lads childish.

People who I thought friends, people who I thought are on the same wavelength as me, are just not.

I am an Evertonian, but I'm not your kind of Evertonian.

No, why are you bothered SO MUCH if i don't like England. We've saved billions not hosting that tripe. Champions League football is the biggest competition in the World now, not the Earth Goblet

Well it's only alive because you think it is. There is no wall, if you want to go down to London and be a success you can do. Business though isn't just restricted to London. Sure it's the capital, but it's not were ok and **** everyone else.

Consider it this way. I'm a proud Scouser. I'm proud of every member of the armed forces who fight on behalf of England, as for those purposes England encompasses Merseyside.

But am I proud Englishman? Nope. Not at all. In fact, I don't even consider myself one, except for legal reasons when I fill forms in. I'd happily put "Nationality: Scouser" if I could.

So basically, it's not a case of hating England - it's a case of loving what you feel you are. I feel Scouse, I don't feel English. In fact, I feel about as much English as I do French.
