English Working Holiday...

Hey Lads,

Now my knowledge of England is piss poor, extremely piss poor to be more truthful. Basically all I know comes from watching football and wikipedia..

Anyways to the point, I was looking at airfares to different locations and I stumbled across one company advertising for working holidays, basically I pay a couple hundred dollars and the arrange a job for me in a pub, accommodation, mobile phone, bank account and all that. I'll be earning around 250 pounds a week before accommodation and meals.

My main fear is that all the places they run through are based in London and to me that means being stuck with in an area with Chelsea and Arsenal supporters (Fulham, West Ham e.t.c are cool but I hate Chelsea and Arsenal).

Now it is question time...

- How far is London from Liverpool? as I plan to get to as many Everton games as possible

- How much will tickets to matches cost?

- Will say 170-190 pounds a week be enough to live off? (Travel, going out, drinking e.t.c)

- How cold is the weather in December?

- What places should I avoid?

And anymore information anyone can give would be great!!

How far is London from Liverpool? as I plan to get to as many Everton games as possible - About 4 hrs by train, 5-6 by Coach.

- How much will tickets to matches cost? - £30 - £40

- Will say 170-190 pounds a week be enough to live off? (Travel, going out, drinking e.t.c) If in L'pool maybe, in London No ( if you scruff it, you should be ok)

- How cold is the weather in December? Fukking Freezing

- What places should I avoid? Newcastle...

And anymore information anyone can give would be great!!

i know a kiwi that basically did what your looking at, he found he was then stuck in that job and then hardly making any money, he bummed a lift up to manchester as someone he knew had a job during euro '96 close to old trafford, he was then there for the rest of his stay. id ont see the attraction of coming here on working hols as the wages are poor and everything is getting more expensive. i would ask around where you are as the will be someone who has a rel over here on a working hol who 's advice could prove invaluable.

i just got a visa and a flight when i did it in oz, similar things were available but i did it off my own steam and had a blast, you want to be on the other side of the bar pizzin' it up......not serving every other bugger.
