EPL Salary Question

So I know that for Blackpool/Cardiff promotion would mean big bucks. Does promotion help the players out in terms of salary? In other words, do they receive an immediate pay raise or is their salary solely determined by their contracts?

In properly run clubs (so - no Newcastle and West Ham) players have their salaries cut automatically after they go down. I don't think it works other way too automatically... although their agents will make sure to get some of TV money for their clients.
