I watched this two hour documentary on ESPN the other night called The Two Escobars which marked the rise of Colombian league football, their National Team, and the drug trade and ending (well not the drug trade) with the murders of both Pablo Escobar and Andres Escobar. Very sad story of Andres. The guy seemed like he had his head screwed on straight and that there were more important things in life to him than football or money.

I'm going go out on a limb here...

This was one of the best documentaries I've seen. It was in a word, riveting. I didn't tape it but I've set my DVR to tape the next rerun which is in July. It's been several nights since I've seen it and I find myself still thinking about it.

If you didn't see it here in the States, WATCH IT !!!

Hopefully they'll show it in the UK at some point or possibly you'll be able to watch it online.

30 for 30 has been a very good series. This was easily the best I've seen. Very well edited, excellent subtle score (music gave me chills in a couple places), great subject matter. Spent 2 hrs of Cup viewing time watching it so it must have been pretty good.

Great shout Bill. It was unreal. I kept nudging my girly to pay attention, you're not reading, this is amazing...until she reminded me she didn't need subtitles to understand! Even she knew el pibe very well from spain as a child.

I too have been thinking about it since.

I've really enjoyed so many of the 30 for 30 joints. Saw the SA rugby one a few days before renting Invictus, think I enjoyed ESPN more. Reggie Miller vs Knicks brought back childhood memories as a knick fan during our golden era. Liked Ice Cube's on Raiders. O.J. was a flashback of some ridiculous media coverage. Gretzky was one no? Oh, Ricky Williams, almost forgot. Defo one of my favs! Still think they should let him smoke his ganja in peace. Not like he's beating up hookers at stripclub, shooting guns off, doing steroids & cocaine.

Good call though. The Colombia doc was amazing.

I watched the 30 for 30: USFL programme about Donald Trump. It was fascinating stuff, as i never even knew about the USFL.

I've seen a few 30 or 30 and to be honest with you I've thought alot of them were quite amateur to HBOs work in the same field. However I would like to see more of this from ESPN than 2 hr long shows about where LeBron is going. Also one of the reasons why I haven't been interested is that there weren't too many topics that I was interested in. I do want to see this one though checked the schedule and its on July 4th. Ill tape it.

The ones I did like were The U, the USFL one, and the Larry Holmes-Ali fight.

They've been quite good. I most remember the one about Ernie Davis (I still remember that as a kid) and bandgeek that I am, the one about the Colts band. I wasn't able to see the Escobar program - I'll get it on the DVR. Thanks for the recommendation.

Just saw it last night. Hoop Dreams was the best doc I ever saw, this is every bit as good, if not better.

I remember watching that game, such an unfortunate own goal but he was flawless bar that for the whoile tournament.

I couldnt beleive the news when i heard it, extreamly sad. R.I.P.

is it on youtube yet? there is a 30 for 30 section at youtube putting up the older ones.
