Been on here a while and mostly a lurker, but thought I would introduce myself!
I seem to be one of those rare blues not from Merseyside. However, I grew up with no local team and a family not interested in football (they didnt watch it rather than being kopites!). Must have been the early 80s I latched on to Everton and have followed them ever since, with a feeling it was my spirtual home. Funny enough have been researching my family history and was pleased to find out my family (Byrne) came from Everton originally, so maybe that partly explains it! My wife's dad also reckoned an ancestor of his played for Everton - cant remember the name now, but when I googled it couldnt find anything.
Dont get a chance to go too many games because of family and work commitments, not to mention my location. However, been to some classics, including the 2001 Arsenal away game where the fan tried to swap a shirt with Nyarko (remember that waste of space?)! Next game semi-final, although had to go clubwembley route!
Would be good to hear from any Blues in the area - bumped into this lad on the way to Shenfield in an Everton kit and had a good chat - always on the look out for fellow blues particularly since there are tonnes of Cockney Koppites down here!
