So of our current crop of loanees - who is being kept?
Who would we replace them with?

Current loans My thoughts would be:
Broja - Could be kept if the price from Chelsea is realistic and DCL goes. Would Delap come here?
Lindstrom - I like him but hasnt scored or created enough - Right side crying out for pace.
Harrison - On his way back to Leeds, not the quality we require. With N'diaye and McNeil he is surplus.
Mangala - Sadly back to Lille, played well but another unfortunate injury, provides cover for Garner but will be too pricey to keep for just that.
Alcaraz - Staying.

Loanees:
Armstrong - Should come back to 1st team squad
Tyrer & Crelin - loaned out again unless Virginia leaves
Maupay & Holgate - Please god no....

Was tempted to include Dele in the loans but thought better of it.

Let all the current loans go back to there parent clubs, they have been either injured or just generally crap (Lindstrom has been Ok but think we can do much better), Bring Armstrong back, spaces available for more loans if need be...........SIGN ALCARAZ 100%

While Lindstrom, Harrison and Mangala have all served the purpose of padding out the squad and covering injuries none of them are worth spending dough on. Any of them coming back on loan will depend on what options we have in the summer.

Broja has something imo, it's a gamble to go back in for him but strikers have been driven out the modern game and there are not many about, wouldn't mind another loan with an option to buy. Alcatraz at 15mill should be bought imo.

Other than getting Alcaraz on a perm absolutely none of them. Send them back when their loan is up and say adieus. Feel sorry for Mangala. Did well for us but won't be back until well into the new season.
Think Armstrong could do with a full season on loan if we get enough in over the summer
Thing for Armstrong is his current loan at Derby is going so well - where do you loan him out to after that?

You missed out the only 1 we should keep.

Charly boy.

Send the rest back.

I could give you a massive list of successful loans, so I wouldnt say rarely.

Most of them in Moyes time actually.

But the biggest would be Lukaku.
Fixed now - it seems a forgone conclusion he is staying. Likely our most successful loan this year.

Back to Derby again I'd suggest once they don't get relegated this season. If he's happy and settled there and Derby are a fan of him it be a no brainer for all parties involved to do another loan there next season

Remind me what year that was? Any decent young players go on loan to The Championship, the only loan players you can get are overpaid bench warmers who have flopped.

We seem well stocked in MF currently with Garner, Gana, Iroegbunam and Armstrong, If Doucoure goes and Longstaff comes thats 5 for 2 positions (albeit hard waring ones). CB's we look ok with 4 if O'Brien is included. CF's we have a small selection but DCL decision would decide that. Full Backs options look light unless we think Coleman and Young are up for another year (I think not). CAM - Charly, Lindstrom, McNeil, N'Diaye. Wingers.... well we seem to be relying on the ones I listed as CAM's. I think thats where we sill focus our Loan activity.

Well in 2025 we loaned Charly Alacraz from Brazil, I think hes been a successful loan.

I think Magala was also doing a good job before his injury, that was 2024.

Connor Coady in 2023 was also a successful loan.

But yes, recently we havent really used our loan spots to a massive success, but even Jack Harrison, like or hate him, but hes played 64 times for Everton over the last few years, I dunno your metric, but I consider that a successful loan, personally.

None of them has been a success, and we need to stop relying on loans, as they rarely succeed.
I'd agree that none of the current crop have worked out.

Loans can be a useful avenue for us though in certain circumstances. They are low-risk if they don't work.

It seems harder to get a player on loan that really makes a big impact now but with the amount of positions that need filling, topping up any other transfers with a couple of loans is going to be necessary.

I hope Moyes can make a better go of it. He was very good with loans in his first spell.
