You should never underestimate the power of Everton to continually underwhelm you. Just one game into our season and they've sucked pretty much all enthusiasm out of a large chunk of us.

The thing about the QPR game, well really no thing, just all of it. The lack of drive, being content to surrender possession and showing all the attacking intent of a French soldier. You weren't surprised though were you? It's August after all. Oh and Cahill and Fellaini up front ffs.

We can try again this Wednesday against Sheffield United, now playing in the third tier of English football and fresh on the back of a one all draw at Tranmere on the weekend.

Managed nowadays by none other than Danny Wilson who peculiarly seems to have lost his eyebrows on his journey managing crap clubs. In goal they have old boy Steve Simonsen, when I say old boy I actually mean him who stinks of a Peter Johnson bung to his bird's club. The big lump of grock Richard Creswell is up front and apart from that they have no one of note, but I did say that against QPR too like.

It's a team we tend to do well against, usually rinsing them at Goodison Park. It's more importantly a competition we have never won. We could really do without the usual exit to a lower league club on penalties this time out and you know, try to win a cup that qualifies us for Europe. Birmingham managed it last time out.

The Osman-Heitinga axis of turd didn't work on Saturday so I hope we change things about in midfield a bit. With this game being against lower league opposition and sandwiched between two Premiership games it's likely there may some of that squad rotation thing. If we can't manage to play two up front in a game like this then it's a worry, even more so when you consider that Beckford up front on his own really doesn't work. We can point to him having the close control of a cow but it was no coincidence that he looked most comfortable in his time here with Saha sat behind him. When you're trying to open up teams who are content to sit back then Tim Cahill really isn't your man.

That Barkley is a player isn't he? Doing all that shooting and stuff. Hoping he plays from the start again. We really miss Coleman's head down and mad runs on the side of midfield and that's twice that Rodwell have played there and being sh*te both times. Swerve it. This is where I'm meant to offer an alternative and all I can picture is Anichebe thumping the turf and gulping air like a freshly caught fish. Anyway, we'll see won't we.

We can ill afford another stroll around the pitch and nor can we approach this like a training game as we've been guilty of in the past. Sheffield United will be fired up and will be wanting to be first into the tackles, we can't wake up in the second half and try going for it. From the first whistle would be nice.

There's only so many times xhamster can ease the pain. So rinse them, not only because Sean Bean is a prick but because we need to kickstart our season earlier than December for once.

Oh god. My first ever Everton game was against Sheffield United, in the League Cup (think it was Rumbelows at the time).

Lost that 2-1. Brian Deane made me cry. Cry FFS.

i see us going out ( which is all we need right now) id giv barkley a rest ( yeah i only its only the second game but man do we need his freshness and zest for the prem) and play rodwell in the middle ( he cant fook this one up ...right ???)

and to really the break the DM mould what about ( wait for it ....) playing 2 up front at HOME ( HOW CRAZY IS THAT ....) and one of them been beckford in a more advanced role that a lot of people think the boy is the dogs bollox at

personally i think this is a no win situation for EFC ( PARDON THE PUN WITH THE NO WIN...)

Come on lads lets get behind the team on wednesday, lets show the players great support. Hopefully we will just get the job done, COYB!!!!

Good work as ever chico,i am going for a repeat of the last time we played these at Goodison 2-0 to us,im sure that day if i remember right that Johnson was Brought down for a pen that made Warnock go mental at the time and he to this day is still mental

With what we've got right now I'd like us to go with either:

Howard
Neville Jagielka Distin Baines
Fellaini Rodwell
Barkley Arteta Osman
Saha

or

Howard
Neville Jagielka Distin Baines
Barkley Fellaini Arteta Osman
Beckford Saha

But both of those formations require Cahill to be dropped so I'd say it's unlikely. Although it is a cup game so who knows.

Hmmmm would you go that strong?

Not sure I would.

Defo Vellios time for me.

Actually not a bad shout that. I might swap Saha for Vellios then, to give Vell a chance and limit the chance of Saha's knees exploding. You don't want to weaken your team too much though. This is our best chance at silverware.
