Everton and The League Cup

Cork Evertonian

Player Valuation: £50m
Swansea Oxford Luton QPR Swindon Birmingham and Norwich City have all won this thing. But for Everton the league cup, continues to remain elusive. Obviously we were unlucky in 1977 and 1984, the only two years we made the final. I just think myself, it's a trophy the club hasn't prioritised enough over the years. It's a pity really, because smaller clubs than us have won it. Oh well perhaps we might win it in 2023 hopefully!

…there’s no excuse, it does tend to be dominated by top sides but we often get knocked out by teams below us. The gulf between top flight and below is widening, yet we still get beaten by the likes of QPR. Attitude has to be an issue.

Good to see West Ham doing well this season on three fronts & beating City, I hope that commitment is rewarded.

Weve allready been knocked out? Bit late with this thread.
FWIW I do think the team Rafael picked was wrong, but as the OP says its nothing ne Everton failing in this one

Drives me mad when teams in the bottom 5 of the Prem make 11 changes and routinely score 5 or 6 past a league one side.
We make about 3 changes and get dumped out or scrape through against the crappest of teams.

Sitting here checking what year it is and if you somehow know the draw next season !

It about our overall record since the late 60's, when we first entered the thing. I'm pretty sure Everton didn't even bother entering a team, during the first few years of the competition.

Its the long drawn out way we usually exit that does my head in. We go behind and then manage to equalise in the last 10 minutes, followed by a goalless extra time and finally dumped out 11 - 10 on penalties.
