Everton de Viña del Mar

On this day in 1909 Everton de Viña del Mar was founded. In Valparaíso Chile, a group of boys led by David Foxley would found their club, giving it the name Everton, to honour the the English Everton Football Club who had been touring Argentina and Uruguay at the time. Also Foxley's grandparents had emigrated from Liverpool to set up a flour mill in the 1850s. So a dynasty was born to what is now the greatest club in South America.
