Everton Draw Metalist Kharkiv In UEFA Cup First Round

Everton have drawn Ukranian side Metalist Kharkiv in the UEFA Cup first round. The two-legged tie is scheduled for 20th September and the 4th October, with the first leg being at Goodison Park.

FC Metalist qualified by finishing third in the Ukranian Premier League and play at the Metalist Stadium, a ground shared with their rivals FC Kharkiv which holds a capacity of 30,133.

Being a seeded side, Everton automatically avoided the likes of Bayern Munich, Fiorentina and Villarreal.

Who the hell are they?! should be a basic victory, where arteta can show off his skill to the people of ukraine
 

Ok, never heard of them. We shouldn't be complacent though. I imagine they will be looking for a rough game as the Group stages could mean vital money for them.
 
Looks like a decent side. It will all come down to us trying to keep a decent pace of the game and how well we can mark them off the ball and muscle them out of the game. No time for fancy footwork in this game :)
 
I imagine we play for a draw, or nick a goal at their place, and stuff them at home. Regardless, we have the personnel to win this comfortably. I don't think it will be comfortable wins for us though. It will be hard-fought and scrappy.
 
could of being playing to a tiny team in macedonia not in a stadium in the ukraine that's in the process of being refitted to seat 40 thousand odd. Will be very very hard away.

We need to be comfortable at home so we have a cushion going into the away leg.

I take the home fixture is first?
 

Metalist?? sounds like a bunch of welders. Either that, or a load of heavy rock fans. Either way, we are going to snot them.
 
Flights are looking around £700 through Manchester at the moment. Sooooooooooo, what do I do. Go to the Ukraine to watch the blues, or head to Cuba to bug the dog handler. hmmmmmmmm
