Jesus, if they have shared any data it's only that you're an Everton fan. It's not that deep.
What's even funnier is that said people have already knowingly and willingly shared information/data with Man United when they purchased their tickets.

It's just been correlated with Everton's data through a well-known process. People are just annoyed that they've been caught out.

I've never understood why people are so adverse to there data being known to agencies.
Like it's never ever bothered me yet some completely flip.

Id be interested to know why and what the issue is.
Do you know why you get spam and fraud emails/calls? It's because your personal information was traded openly and scammers bought it. When you sign up to your Sky subscription they are quite willing to sell your personal information to anyone waving a cheque book and tbat includes some unscrupulous scammers in India or wherever else they are hiding to avoid the authorities.

The point is that the public have become accustomed to handing over all of their private and personal information for the sake of comfort and convenience. You might as well flip the question. Why shouldn't you deny private entities access to your personal information? What's wrong with wanting privacy? Why is it assumed that wanting privacy means you have something to hide? Why do you have curtains and blinds on your windows?

That may well be the case. Fans have tried to circumvent obvious regulations on match day seating to avoid confrontation but that doesn't invalidate the argument.

Everyone's favourite wandering baddie, Dominic Cummings, even said "covid regulations have completely ignored GDPR". That's it now, a precedent has been set. If you have good enough reason you can ride roughshod over data protections and, as we all know, mission creep is a slippery slope.
