[imga=left]http://images.skysports.com/images/playerpics06_07/Championship/Preston/nugent_ball.jpg[/imga]Preston North End have revealed they have given permission for David Nugent to discuss a potential transfer with two other clubs.

It's widely believed that one of the 'mystery' clubs is Sunderland, while the other clubs are rumoured to be Everton, Portsmouth or West Ham.

The Evertonian English International has reiterated many times of his strong desire to play for his boyhood club Everton, admitting it would be a 'dream move' for him.

Discuss Nugent in our Everton forums.

I think we just want to see a signing, and this fella obviously wants to come to us. But is that enough?

Part of me feels that we should sign him - incase he becomes a great goalscorer for someone else.

Part of me feels that the signing would just be a token and not really an efficient allocation of our funds.

Wasn't Irvine at one of the games in Holland?

He might have been Ghost, but he could've been watching any player and not just an English one.

Preston are valuing him too high and thats the end of it, whoever he goes to he will HAVE to score buy the bucket load otherwise he will get dumped quick sharp to anyone that will have him.

Its at that moment moyes should make his move, encourage the lad and create a vaughan/nugent strike partnership.

Isnt Moyes on his holiday, youd think if we were talking to him hed be around, ok maybe not to go into the finaces but o share his vision for the team and also what he would Nugents squad staus would be.

So where does AJ fit into all this?

As the number one striker of course, vaughan and nugent are but mere kids, the vaughan nugent strike force was just a glimpse of the future.

I think he,s ok but is he worth 7 mill not if you look at aj at 8.6 mill,he,s one of those players that one week is brilliant and the next week poor and i think we have a better young england talent in james vaughan.

Is he good enough? Well we have Jose Baxter, Polish-sounding kid, Scott Spencer, Agade, Shephard, [Poor language removed] loads to be honest. We don't need a striker at present. I think Moyes knows we have talent coming through and doesn't feel spending 6 million on inexperience at the highest level makes good business sense.

Agree?

Yeah i agree, 6 million would be a massive risk to take. However I think Beattie will move on. So we would need someone with experience to play upfront to help AJ.

Your right there i think we need someone with some european experience and spend the dosh in the midfield area.

I don't think we need Nugent - not at 6 or 7 million, and agree Vaughan has way more upside. But at the same time I'm not convinced that the 6 or 7 mill is out of line. We spent 5 million a year ago on Championship player who was not capped at international level, and that turned out to be a bargain.

I'd sure like us to sign a couple of those young Dutch players, though.
