Nice to see we're finally addressing a position of need and early in the window too.

Now, whose next?
Central Midfield, get some proper help in there for Allan and Doucs, shift 2 of Davies, Delph and Gomes permanently and get a loan for Gbamin to get him some match time, cancel Tosun’s and Rondon’s contracts and look at selling Holgate or Mina

To be fair I'm personally more than happy to be digging for gems in weirder leagues. Signings from major leagues tend to go tits up for us.

I agree but we need the basics at the minute. A centre back that can win a header, a creative player that can take a corner, a central midfielder that can run etc.

Our CB options are dire. Keane and Holgate are terrible and Mina is never fit. Still unsure on Godfrey I just don’t think he’s very good. Branthwaite looked solid against Chelsea and needs games now. We need a new CB urgently.

hopefully we can get a no10 that can hold the ball and create something for our strikers.

RB position looks to be sorted soon but does Patterson start or does is the step up too soon for him?
Agree we need a much better, first-choice senior CB.

Problem is, we'd need to sell two of Mina, Keane and Holgate before we buy, otherwise a third of our squad would be CBs and half of those CBs would be getting paid over £50k per week to not play.

i think the other thing is the signing of 12m or 16m for a lb and rb even if it doesnt work out .. you can prob sell then for 10m and 13m so the risk is less .. if that makes sense
I mean I remember using that same logic with Sandro.

Luckily these lads won't be on massive wages (though the £58k rumored for Mykolenko seems high).

Maybe this new LB can take a corner? Gordon's are usually decent as well. Gray and Townsend can take them.

cant play in a 2.

SImple as that.

In a 3 hes much, much better.
Yup. Doucouré looks far less effective in a two as well.

Bring in a Zakaria, Kamara, Guimares or even a McTominay to play alongside them in a three and it would make a pronounced positive difference.

Huge existing payroll at the club though, so we need to shift Delph, Gomes and/or Gbamin to create some wiggle room to allow us to pay a new face. Can't just have 3 senior CMs sitting in the stands every week picking up £200k between them.

A little worrying we've been linked to pretty much no central midfielders. I would say centre half too but I'd like to give Branthwaite more minutes considering this season is toast anyway.
