Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Going off Thelwell linked players in the past, Ebimbe could be a target, the young Brazilian lad also, both would fit in with moyes idea of fullback/wingbacks, fellows at west brom also ticks a lot of Moyes boxes .

The winger from Lyon and Gnoto - no chance imo now.

Lad from Strasbourg a serious possibility too

Oh Moyes will absolutely love Gardner btw, and my guy instinct says he'll try to get Lindstrom to play a pienaar role if he gets in a good fullback behind overlapping

I agree with the above.

I also have a sense Harrison may suit what Moyes wants as well, for similar reasons.

….what I remember was Jagielka talking about the repetitive daily defence routines. I’m sure he said we didn’t concede a set piece goal for two seasons.

Like with Mourinho I just wonder if it's not a guy on the decline and when intensity is a huge part of what makes them work it's a worry, with both though the hope would be coming here gives them back a spark.

Aaron Cresswell probably as exciting as it gets! Is he red or blue? Was always a prospect at Tranmere and surprised Moyes radar didn't pick him up in those days, been at West Ham since 2012 I think.

I do think Chilwell could be decent even if he hasn't played for a while. One of those you wait until March/April to really hit their stride.
No thanks .

We lack that centre mid who can score that Moyes always had though - usually converted into a number ten almost, much as we don't seem to realise it he likes the cm to be able to be comfortable in possession too.

Think Gueye and Doucoure are toast in a Moyes team

He will like Mangala I think.

Maybe mate yes.

Patterson honestly I'm unsure of, Moyes was always hesitant to play attacking fullbacks until he felt they were ready, lescott starting ahead of Baines who cost a bit for us tbh, Coleman not starting at FB until I think around 23, being played occasionally on the wing or on loan etc. normally Moyes was a manager who did change but normally when his hand was for ed but he did stick with that change.

Baines after the lescott mare against liege, Coleman after both pistoni and Hibbert were injured for example

Id add as well as to Mangala/Garner being liked, that Moyes gets a bit pigeonholed to me as like a Dyche. It's not an attack on either, but I think they are quite different.

For a lot of Moyes tenure I'm not sure we even had a conventional target man. And he liked midfielders across the midfield line who were comfortable in possession but also disciplined without the ball.

I don't remember him, Kilbane aside ever really wanting a wide man to run down the touchline and put crosses in.

Re the goal scoring Mid I do agree, but those players are hard to find, but honestly wouldn't be surprised if we saw NDiaye/Lindstrom/Harrison all playing and drifting in the 10 spaces like Arteta/Osman/Peinaar used to.

Yes that's all true. I just have a sense, with him being Scottish Moyes may just give him a run. I wouldn't be surprised if we looked at a left back.

These days they seem to call the role a wingfielder, plenty of them around but most are usually key in teams so it might be a position better strengthened in the summer.

He brought Kevin Miralles to Everton, now he was a fast winger.
