Everton suffered a desperately disappointing 2-0 defeat at the hands of Fiorentina in the first leg of the last 16 of the UEFA Cup tie.
The Italian hosts dominated throughout but took 70 minutes to take the lead, when the unmarked Zdravko Kuzmanovic powered home a low shot from 20 yards past the impressive Tim Howard.
