I am abit worried about this.

"I have always said that I want to play for a club that plays in Europe and I think they have the ambition to move forward and they want to finish in the first four and the Champions League and UEFA Cup, and for me that is my dream.''

He added: "I chose to go to Middlesbrough because they were in Europe. At the moment they are not doing it.

What will happen if we fail to qualify for euro? Will he give us the [Poor language removed] attitude which cause boro fans eager to see him leave?

I agree, I wasnt too happy with those comments either. But all will be revealed in weeks to come. Hopefully he'll just bang them in so we dont have to worry about his dream of europe.

To be honest when you're spending that kind of money on a player most would want to be in Europe. Another way to look at it is that the player has ambitions and sees us as a club that can share in them.

I agree and said so before he signed. At Boro he has been called all the mercenary pricks going and in training wouldn't take a blind bit of notice of Southgate. Only time will tell:blink:

I was thinking this last night after reading the last bit of his quote on SS website, didnt fancy posting incase I got flamed. I hope we do well and can satisfy his ambitions, but if DM plays the lumpers in midfield like he has done recently then Yak will soon get the hump and start sulking.

So basically what he is saying is, he went to Boro because they matched his ambition. Now they are not doing that, Everton are matching his ambition. Trust me if we don't match his ambition, we are going to lose more than Yakubu.

What he said was right on the button. And his record speaks for itself.

Gareth Southgate is not an experienced manager, David Moyes is.

Completely agree. I knew people would misconstrue what he said, I think thats completely what he meant and remember English isnt his 1st language.

Exactly. I watched the interview with him on EvertonTV, and it is clear that while he can speak English, it is his second language, in addition to him looking very uncomfortable in front of the camera.

I prefer to let him do him 'talking' on the field and let him fulfill his lofty goal of scoring 20 this season. Which I applaud greatly. Nothing wrong with setting the sights high.

There's a very big chance that his first language IS English. The official language of Nigeria is English.

Ghost mate, on the other hand, we are not guarantee euro year in and out. What if, you know, well, let's just see how it goes. But I agree, coming to us is a step up for him.
