Newcastle will be all over some of the free transfers going, likes of tarkowski & nketiah would choose them over us id imagine with the daft wages they'd likely offer. Thats the issue were gonna have this summer
Expect lampard to go to chelsea for a loan or two, hopefully we can get johnson in from forest

No mate I have an opinion based on what I have seen whilst watching the games, apologies that it doesn't agree with yours and Zat's but I suppose that's why everyone is different

But you know your Chelsea and stuff!

Also, great picture, I am sure there is one of Djimi Traore holding said European Cup also

Thats fair mate, no issue with lads rolling the dice on their opinion chips and putting them on the table, whether i agree or nay - wish more with be that brave, respect that. ;)

Case to made for + and - 's - so we're trusting our own judgements.

Agree to differ and all that.

P.S. i would have went Vladimar Smicer. lol

I thought we had a deal that involved James going in part exchange but that he wouldn't go.

Edit. How much would he have cost without James?
Don’t think we’d have got Diaz short of 35-40 million and including James wouldn’t have reduced that by much as they’d have had a massive wage to cover.

I don’t think we were ever close to getting Diaz. He was maybe lined up as a replacement if we got big money in for Richy (who may have gone to psg late in the window if Mbappe had moved) but we’ve only been able to spend what we get in for the last year so without a departure it wasn’t happening.

I think we should be honest with ourselves, if we want to raise 120m, Richarlison will be part of that. Him and Pickford are our best players - and so easiest to sell.

Probably stick with DCL if we cant get decent coin, and hope he rediscovers form.

Mina and Allan...well they are two of our best (only ?) decent defensive players so we'd need to replace with the at least same level - tough.

Gomes needs to go, perhaps Davies too. Perhaps Keane would do better under less of a spotlight.
I don't think it'd be too difficult to replace Allan, for what he's brought to the side I'm sure we could have found that in another player for the fraction of the price.

Getting in two quality centre halves in one window however will be a big test for the new recruitment team. Mina needs selling due to his contract and injuries, Holgate and Keane are not good enough, Godfrey has his flaws, has regressed as a footballer since last season and has missed a worrying amount of gametime this season and there's also Branthwaite who needs a loan out IMO.

I would like to see us bring in a left-footed CB as one of the 2 we should be bringing in.

Flog DCL first. He can jog about somewhere else for 90 mins. He should be the first saleable asset gone
I think he will be sold, but your assessment is based on this season when he has clearly been injured.

It’s difficult to claim that he won’t be missed when he hasn’t played, however, I think he will be an asset to whichever club he joins and that is when we will remember what he is capable of.

For once ( not necessarily by you Zat ) those player valuations are realistic , although I'd be surprised if we got £40m for DCL as things stand.
I also think Nketiah might have something - but then I thought the same of Sandro!
We were supposedly rating him at £60mil last summer i think so £40mil seems like a level where West Ham or Newcastle may be keen.

If Richarlison were to leave id sell DCL anyway and start afresh up front.

We really need to shift the deadwood as well.

We have been linked with Barcelona CB Clement Lenglet again and CM Gavi
Lenglet is the 1st choice who Brands wanted before we signed Mina in the same window. He's become pretty poor for Barcelona, their fans dont like him.

Gavi though is 99% to stay with them or join an elite club...if we could sign him + Gilmour then its like Xavi and Iniesta lite lol
Looked at the players out of contact.

Kamara at Marseille might be the best option. 22 defensive midfielde. Might be able to run.
Hes class...wanted him a year ago. Very good specialist DM...quick, good attitude and good all round player.
I’m hoping Thelwell and Lampard may have connections to players who actually want to be at the club rather than us just going for high profile names.
I think they'll do a great job
No way will Chelsea be selling Colwill, though he may be loaned out. With the amount of defenders leaving the club, Colwill will probably be part of the first team squad.

Gallagher will definitely not be leaving. Tuchel has constantly stated that he will be playing a big part at Chelsea next season, so any talk of a transfer or loan is wishful thinking.

Not sure if Gilmour will be staying or leaving. Kante and Jorginho could both be leaving in the summer, if rumours are correct, so he may be a part of Tuchel’s plans.

With Chelsea you never know...sold some really high potential and high quality young players over the last few seasons.

For the right price i think they'd be tempted to sell and sign a ready made elite player.

Depends of course with the new owners...if theyre patient or want Abramovich level of instant success.

If we managed to sell our non-high value players at 'reasonable fees e.g:

Keane £10mil
Kean £25mil
Mina £10mil
Allan £10mil
Gomes £0
Gbamin £5mil

That takes us to £60mil in transfer fees.

Add Sigurdsson, Tosun, Delph, Lonergan, El-Ghazi, Van De Beek and the wages saved would be enormous...

Perhaps £60mil on fees and £800k+ a week in wages.

We'd still look like this will all those outs + excluding any promoted u23 players:

GK: Pickford / Begovic
LB: Mykolenko / Nkounkou
CB: Branthwaite / ???
CB: Godfrey / Holgate
RB: Patterson / Coleman
DM: Davies / ???
CM: Doucoure / Iwobi
AM: Dele / ???
LF: Richarlison / Gray
CF: DCL / Rondon
RF: Gordon / Townsend

This would be amazing before any high-value players are sold.

Im hoping Thelwell can move those 6 players out pronto with Kean talks already underway.

If we plan to use 3 at the back then we'd need 5 centre backs. I think Holgate and Godfrey would be fine there and Branthwaite as the rotation option for the central position.

So we would need 1 central player in the back 3 and one left sided left footer.

CB: Tapsoba / Botman / Lacroix / Kossounou / Zabarnyi / Bremer / Harwood-Bellis

LCB: Guehi / Badiashile / Ndicka / Colwill / Lisandro Martinez / Inacio / Lukeba / Hincapie

A lot of high quality young players out there for both positions.

I wonder if we had a top DM screening and with Pickfords experience behind...if we would need that experienced senior centre back.

Guehi is marshalling Palace's defence as captain and is only 21.
