Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

It does sound a hell of a lot of money but tbf he has been a pro for 7 seasons and DCL for 8 seasons and Tammy has scored nearly twice the amount of goals Dom has. Still, £100m is world class money and I wouldn't say he was that.

With all the negative attention on Rashford at the moment, how much could he be available for?

That group of Rashford, DCL and Abraham all seem fairly similar behind Kane and above the other English forwards.

Absolutely correct.
We have to have a squad of 20 outfield players at least. Not everybody in the squad can be a certain starter every week. We need players that can accept being used at different times in different games... but not every game.

The more players we let leave, the more we have to replace with the limited resources we have.
We would be better off keeping players who can do a job in the squad and bring fewer but more influential players.

I would not be surprised if we sign Tarkowski... tough as nails, free transfer, probably not exorbitant wages.
Interesting about Pickford. The club will certainly try to tie him into a new contract but even if he doesn't sign I think he will be kept for at least another season, we simply can't afford to rip the entire team apart.

Regarding centre halves , I think Mina will probably leave this summer(if a money paying buyer can be found). I think Holgate may be more saleable than Keane and if he leaves we would then have Keane, Brathwaite and Godfrey. We would have to sign two centre halves and if Keane left as well then we would have to sign three.

I have said it elsewhere, I think we may well go after Tarkowski.

We'll have 7 out of contract and loan players out the door.

Holgate, Mina, Keane, Gbamin, Gomes and Iwobi would take us to 13 players leaving.

I can see us using 3 at the back with Coleman as RCB/RWB cover and some youngsters like Welch, Mills, Warrington, Price, Whittaker, Onyango etc being around the squad for backup as we enter the season much lighter.

Defence
The 3/5 at the back would look like: Mykolenko, Nkounkou, Godfrey, Branthwaite, Coleman, Patterson.

We would need 2 new Centre Backs and perhaps a RWB.

Midfield
This is interesting as Davies and Allan only have a year on their contracts but we cant sell both as Doucoure would be our only senior midfielder.

I can see us adding 2 new Central Midfielders.

Attack
If we went with a 343 formation then we could see Gray, Gordon, Dobbin, Dele, Richarlison competing for the 2 wide positions with DCL and Rondon up top.

As things stand we could do with another CF.

With the 13 players leaving for e.g £45mil along with a crucial £25mil fee for Kean (if as rumoured Juventus sign him and instantly move him to PSG) we'd have around £70mil in fees.

This is where things get interesting as I could see any of...

Pickford (2 years)
Gray (2 years)
Richarlison (2 years)
DCL (3 years)

...leaving for the right amounts.

For the incomings I think Tarkowski has been heavily linked with West Ham and Newcastle...Brereton-Diaz will have alot of competition as will other well known 'names'. Even Belotti from Torino is out of contract but likely in high demand.. others like Kamara are now linked to United and Ginter to the top German sides.

I wonder how much we would 'need' to spend to bring in the 1RWB, 2CB, 2CM, 1CF as we must inject a mix of quality, potential and leadership.

I think we could do with that £70mil in fees as well as another £100mil from somewhere.

Richarlison + Pickford probably achieves that amount with us being top heavy in wide forwards and potentially able to bring in a keeper for free or on loan.

Id really prefer us to extend both their contracts though...its a very hard summer ahead.

How about France as well? Just to throw this out there, if we did make some big sales this is whats available in France + plenty more ive not mentioned as well;

Hugo Ekitike: Close to joining Newcastle for £33mil + bonuses. Only turning 20 in June, 6'2 and scores a goal every 2 games at centre forward.

Amine Gouiri: Can play up front or cutting inside from the left. Technically another level from what weve seen in years (bar James) and seen as the next Benzema.

Aurelien Tchouameni: Now a 22 year old French international at Monaco who is built like a monster. Someone who would be comfortable if we play 2 in midfield.

Boubakar Kamara: Another 22 year old who has moved into defensive midfield having previously played at centre back. Quick and a solid all round player.

Benoit Badiashile: Left footed centre back who captains France u21s. Just turned 21 a couple of days ago, athletic, mobile and a beast.

Us, Milan and Arsenal are linked to Gouiri.

Absolute quality.

Can you still do football manager style guesswork in the championship?
My best guess is that it will push them to new levels of futile speculation and humble brag scouting as they take it on themselves to identify the players Everton need to get promoted. They will get there before the big boys like Newcastle, Southampton and Brentford can offer these burgeoning raw talents the top level football.

I'm hoping for some grass routes scouting

'i was was taking in West Mids police V the Cambridge nurses and I saw a handy left back'

Were not linked with this player, but could be a good signing for us.

Gustavo Hamer from Coventry, I was at Coventry v Blackburn today and he was really impressive, lots of energy and brave plays forward on the ball.
Of course we don't know if he could step up to premier League level but he may be worth a punt for a premier League side
