Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

I see. It’s a bit underwhelming to be honest but hope the lad does well of course.

I dont see it as a bad signing personally, I seen a few games at wolves when he was there and he was decent, I remember one game where he toyed with Kyle Walker - there's a clip on twitter somewhere ill find it.

I think it'll be a solid signing, but not the positions we need to fill urgently.

Davies and Gordon is a pitiful return in the space of, what, 5, 6, 7 years?

We have two problems as I see it, we don't use our underage teams as development teams, they seem to operate independently of our first team, and we don't offer a route to first team football for young players, we don't trust them, we don't give them opportunities, even in cup games. If I was Thierry Small, I would have left too. He had no chance here. We'd have never played him.
As won't Southampton.

I'm not sure about too good to be true. We're talking about signing a lad who has struggled to establish himself at Wolves and now at Sporting. It's a punt, I have no issues with that because that's the position we're in, but I wouldn't necessarily go overboard about the potential upsides of it.

By that i mean the context of the deal, 16k a week, is ridiculously cheap for the PL even a squad player, the rest is an analysis of his recent career trajectory. A punt certainly, but a cost effective one if the deal reported is correct.

So, based on current rumors....if we sign Vinagre for cover on loan-to-buy, pay 25m for Guido Rodriguez at DM, buy Cornet for 15m, buy Dennis or similar striker for 15m, get a CM and a CB on loan for cover, and then move on Holgate and Gomes, how would you view the transfer window and odds for the season? We would have a negative spend for the window.

Think lots of unknowns there like, Rodriguez. Cornet, Dennis, but at the same time who knows.

We need multiple CM's imo, Strikers and wide players, so I would say they would have filled in the spots we need so couldn't argue too much with our current state if we done that.

It’s a vicious circle really given our position that these are the type of players we are it looking at and being linked with others such as Dennis, Barkley etc. It’s all so boring and underwhelming but that’s more to do with my frustration at the state of the club.

It was discussed to an inch of its life last night.

Which was a complete waste of everyone’s time considering the tenuous link came from a translated tweet which actually says nothing of the sort.

The Everton news pages on twitter are a total irrelevance
The whole thread is a total irrelevance. >1860 pages and one free transfer. If you want facts try NatGeo.

So we're supposedly willing to spend €40m on Guido but not €30m on that Onana?
Not wanting to give the club the benefit of the doubt - Christ knows, they've done nothing to earn it - but maybe there's more to it.

Maybe they haven't heard positive things back from Onana's camp and he favours a move elsewhere. Maybe Lille want more money upfront than Betis do.

More likely, we offer Delph a new contract on deadline day.
