We finished 10th last season and quite honestly should have made a Europa League spot.

Rafael will want top 8 for sure.

He won't be getting top 8 with the current squad unless it is overhauled.

I am more than happy to give Benitez a chance to stamp his authority on the club - I don't care about his baggage - but he is utterly delusional if he thinks he can improve on last season with the current rabble, sans James, at his disposal. If ever a manager needed "Hollywood" signings, it is Rafael Benitez. Especially as he will get rid of our one loved Hollywood superstar.

I sincerely doubt that. Our recruitment is the worst in England by some margin.

And we need to see players out the door first.

I mean a relegation scrap might actually be preferable, at least there’d be some jeopardy in the season and we might get rid of Benitez.

I hope he stays for at least 2 years and tries to get rid of all the wasters. The last thing we need is a new manager next summer abs the likes of siggurdsson, Gomes, iwobi, get another 12 months.

I have a contact at the club who said they were worrying about FFP back in May.

I’m sure the new director appointed today is part of the process for addressing that problem.

Why weren't they worried about it when they were paying 30m and handing out 4 and 5 year contracts and to absolutely abysmal football players.

It's their job to find solutions because the root cause of our problems was diabolical recruitment.
