I heard an interesting point on talk sport last night about UTD still boatloads of Ronaldo Merch, which clearly could not continue if he had gone to City.... so I think it's driven by brand rather than ability - personally I think his Ego is so big that it's going to be a struggle to manage the fall out of it all.

He is they gave him a contract extension - unbelievably when you look at that list.

There is that angle to it, but you have to play him for the commercials and that still unbalances their dynamic for me.

Nothing. It's just a shame really. That's all. We had such big aspirations over the last few years and now we are scrambling for a potentially free agent striker that noone else wants and a last minute loan for a player that isn't good enough for a team that is similar to us. Just shows how far our aspirations have fallen this summer from previous years that people seem to be happy with that.

(I'm obviously hoping something comes out of the blue and puts all what I've just said in the bin).

Yeah can only agree. Very happy with Townsend and Gray coming in, think that's smart business for us given the financial restraints. But yes, we've needed a new right back since 2017. Even with tighter finances this summer, it's just not good enough.
