Lads, Lads calm down its only the 01st July

Might be top 4 for goals scored but that was never our issue: keeper and defence are priority.
Technically they aren't mate.

Martinez was just crap at telling them what to do. Now with former world class defender Ronald in charge I'd imagine our international defence keep a few more out.

The needs to sell isn't to increase the wage budget because we can't afford it. It's to allow us to increase it due to FFP. Gibson and Steklenburg's signings have no impact on our ability to pay the wages for bigger signings - if we hadn't signed them we'd still need to sell and make a big profit to allow us to increase the wage budget by more than 7 million.

Its not FFP its something about cost control.

£50-60k of course is an impact on wages when it pays for one of tbe stars extensions, thats the point of people wanting to sell, ro increase wage allowance in the budget.

Stecklenberg, on the face of it, does appear to be a huge waste of wages. Surely Robles isn't worse than him? Taking age into account too. Really weird signing.

I think he has been bought as 3rd choice. Robles could still be our n1 going into season depending on how it goes with other targets. I imagine we have bought Stecklenberg as he is available and we would rather take him now for cheap then avoid the risk of missing out on a new N1 and go into the season with Robles and a youngster.

Not really sure I understand your viewpoint here @Zatara. Seems to me you're miserable with Koeman's appointment and think he's a terrible manager yet would be buzzing if we signed Leno and Kovacic? What difference would they make if the manager is as bad as you say?

If he's that bad an improved squad won't automatically push us into Europe; a different manager would.

Also think you're completely missing the point with Gibson. A player of his age and footballing ability demands a fee. Why let him go for free when we can sell him?

Awful ambition that. Signing a terrible goalkeeper just in case we can't sign a good one? Could have had Mandanda and I bet he'll be on similar wages! So far the decision to retain Gibson and get Stecklenberg in is very strange. Hoping we get some excitement soon.

Are you privy to such information?

But would Mandanda be happy being second/third choice? Everyone seems to be going on about him like is one the best goalkeepers around yet he has just signed for Palace.

Clearly we think that we can get better as our N1. But Koeman also wants a new n2/n3, he might even find he doesn't rate Robles in training and ships him out.

Who would buy Gibson? He barely plays 15 games a season and how much would they pay as were no doubt paying approx £30k a week or £120k a month.

I'd be very happy with Kovacic and Leno and would be chuffed if Koeman proved me wrong.

I hope we get in a top DOF as likely when Koeman is gone in a year or two at least we should have some top players.
