That's true but do we need to blow our transfer budget on strengthening our attack if it's not the scoring that we're having problems with?

Don't get me wrong i would be very excited if we were to sign him but it's just seems like buying a really expensive car before you buy yourself a place to live.

this is true however I do think we have the quality at the back they're just not performing at the minute.

Our defenders arent bad players or defenders for that matter, i think the system and style this season has left then criminally exposed so we dont need to buy anyone to improve, we are already improving defensively IMO as the Spurs game and City game we showed a lot more defensive solidarity.

Putting a big amount of money into Yarmolenko will not only show intent but it will also give is that killer instinct upfront.

some people say defensive failings, but the games we've lost points in this season are the games we've not created/scored enough.

I imagine Bobby has decided (like Fergie did at ManUtd) that outscoring the opposition is a lot easier and fun to watch than hobbling the attack trying to keep a defence duck-arse tight and cling onto 1-0s (if we can get the 1)

Bournemouth 3-3 Everton
Everton 3-4 Stoke
Everton 2-3 Leicester

If you have to score 4 or 5 to guarantee a win against arguably lesser opposition, the defense is definitely failing

And, conceding 7 at home in 2 games against Stoke and Leicester is unacceptable. Everyone was calling for Moyes' head when we conceded 4 against Villa, Bolton & West Brom within weeks of each other

Word for word what Fergie wrote in his book.

I agree, but Leicester are/was top of the league and Stoke above us also....after out-spending us....context mate.

the thing is, we play with barry and mccarthy as two DM's most of the time, it's hardly gun ho football. we're just easy on the eye with good young attacking players.

Bit of a difference though. Didn't we concede 4 goals 3 times on the bounce or something like that, and the performances were really really bad. No positives from those games whereas you could see the problems and also see the positives from the Stoke and Leicester games.

Our defence in the Stoke and Leicester games did not perform well as they were an extension of our attack and the middle of the park did nothing good enough to protect our defence. We clammed up in defence in the last couple of games against superior opposition and the difference was chalk and cheese. Defending takes a bit away from our attack and attacking leaves the defence more vunerable. Besic bang in the middle has helped a great deal fortify our midfield. Our midfield is weak at defending and tend to stand off too much but recently they have changed tact and are now attempting to close down quickly.
