Remember it well, also.
Everton took the Stretford End and made it sound far better than the Mancs did on their own ground.
Oh yes and part of the centre circle turf went home with me in my pocket .......to be planted somewhere in me mam n dads garden ...the things you do ...:)
Think it was Listons Music Bar after... near Piccadilly ...God knows what time we got back to Lime Street Station...
Bally was suspended.. Leeds or maybe the F.A. seen to it that he couldn,t play against them again after the 4 he had scored

My point of no return as an evertonian. First season as STH, sat right in line with the goal line that we scored in. I am a little dot in the background above the corner flag.!!!!! TV doesn't do it justice but the fans behind the goal leaned back as one and almost sucked the ball in. The pitch was so heavy the ball seemed to take an age to go in in my memory but ice cool Johnny Morrisey hit it good and true.
Ball was suspended but we dug it out.
Harry Catterick Harry Catterick,Harry Catterick, Harry Harry!!!!!!
Actually painful for Leeds who were the nearly team but what a team of thugs!!!!

Used to hate Leeds, nice that they are out of the top flight, slightly off topic, Russell Crowe is thinking of buying them, asking advise from his Twitter fans.

It did have everything! Highs = 66, Alan Ball and co, that semi, beating RS in cup with both grounds a sellout I think, TV screens at Anfield. (No ticket for that....agony waiting to hear result.)1970 sublime champions, 1971 borussia Mgladbach pens.
Lows.... 67 QF out to forest having been 2 up, 68 final, 69 semi, Panathanaikos and RS semi defeat in 4 days OMG AGONY of highest order, RS taking over and the end of an era....selling Alan Ball
Very exciting.

Must have been great going into each season and thinking,"we've got a real chance of doing something"closest in my lifetime was the mid 1980's when you felt we could win every game, but it was too fleeting!

Bally went on to score a hattrick against WBA three or four months after the final. If memory serves me right, Harvey scored a blinder in the same match.

Could have played all day and night in the final and wouldn't have scored. Still a bit scarred after Jimmy Husband's comment that he didn't really like heading the ball having missed quite an easy one.

As lads we went to every match we could, be it by hitch hiking, scraping every coin we could to go on the Ribble from Skelhorne Street, using my brothers Railway pass and handing it back in the line .. to get the rest of our crew on together.. happy times and we didn,t give a toss win ,lose or draw....
we all went to 68 final on the Ribble after having a great night in the Big House on Limey.. gutted though at the outcome ... Everton that..oops wrong thread ...

Then aged 15 & went on my tod after mates couldn't get tickets. Was there next to the wall to right of goal. Couldn't resist joining the pitch invasion at the end. Like bluelord 49 a little bit of the centre circle ended up in my pocket. Also, was at the 6 - 2 away win at WBA & so confident we'd batter them, then came the Jeff Astle moment. With about 6 mates joined the crowd at Allerton Station for the start of the 'Homecoming' tour on the Sunday. There was a bus strike on so we started thumbing to town to get to St Georges Hall where the parade ended. Because there was a gang of us nobody stopped so we walked (ran) all the way - missed the team because they didn't hang about after losing - then walked the 5/6 miles home again.
