Exactly right, Evertonians by our very nature for somewhere between pessimistic and level headed. I was listening to TS the other day and that plonker Jim White was asking 'could Everton be the new Leicester?' And to a man each Evertonian who rang played down our start and basically said 'let's take it 1 game at a time' and 'top 6 is the aim'

That to me is a common sense approach, but I've had a few so I'm fully expecting us to win the lot.

If anyone asks me "can Everton be the new Leicester" I will twist their ear.

No, Everton are not and can never be the new Leicester....a team which won the Title for the first time ever last season, having previously never even been in the hunt.....at least in my lifetime.

Nine times champions Everton, however, have won the Title as many times as Chelsea and City combined.....and been runner up on God knows how many other occasions.

Leicester wil probably never win the league again this century......Everton will most assuredly get a team together to win it sometime in the near future.

And if Jim White is surprised when that happens, he is a bigger clown than I had previously thought he was.

;)

I thought we were a bit lucky early in the game, with Middlesborough looking more up for it. Their crappy goal seemed to do the trick for us though and then it was one way traffic.......the team still didn't play with any great fluency but was enough to win it.......

I agree Pete, there were mistakes and things we could pick apart both good and bad. I just felt that feeling deep down that even if we switched off and let a goal in, we would just switch back on this time and get another goal. We have so much more variables for the opposition to think about.

Today Barry and Coleman scored, which was almost reminiscent of the Moyes days when everyone chipped in except Hibbo. Even Howard. I think that's a good thing. The last thing I will ever do is get carried away with Everton being successful hahahah, but today's game made my day.

:)

Great performance after their goal. Ran the game and kept things simple in the second half when Rom went off.

My ratings.

Stek - 6 - Even though it was a foul, would like to see him be a bit stronger there. Spot on for everything else though.
Coleman - 8 - Thought he was superb today and his goal was class.
Jagielka - 7 - Solid as ever.
Williams - 6 - Got caught out from a few crosses early on (including their goal) but as usual very steady and commanding.
Baines - 6 - We didn't really seem to use his side much going forward (or as much anyway).
Gueye - 8 - Idrissa Gana Gueye innit.
Barry - 8 - Boss.
Barkley - 7 - Kept things simple. Shut up all the melts.
Bolasie - 7 - Great cross for Rom's (alleged) goal. Looks better on the left for me though.
Mirallas - 6 - Sloppy on the ball at times but worked hard and helped keep things tight.
Lukaku - 6 - Some great link up play and good to see him looking near his top form again. Hopefully his knock isn't serious.

Valencia - 6 - Looked sharp when involved.
Deulofeu - 6 - Tracked back really well. Frustrating going forward at times.
Clevs - N/A
