Everton Youth Teams Thread

Sick to see Schneiderlin given minutes while we sold this kid who is on path to become a very good footballer
Ledson has to be put in perspective though. Despite appearing on the bench I’m sure he didn’t get any PL minutes. While no two players are ever the same, this season we’ve had Connolly and Williams getting a lot of Championship minutes, a league above Ledson, and their futures are by no means secure with us. Throw in what happened to Walsh too and it highlights how difficult it is for youngsters to break through , and at a club who has achieved more minutes for u21s than any other this season.
And on it rolls. Beni is now next on the list of moving up from the U23s, coming behind our next midfield hopes are Adeniran and Markelo, both bought in , and only time will tell if they achieve more than our home produced but departed Ledson and Walsh.

I think that's absolutely brilliant. Love seeing our academy players do well even when it's elsewhere. Young player of the year probably was to be expected but to get the fans award was a great achievement. Oxford fans are obviously more appreciative of younger players than Everton fans are.

I also like the fact that this has silenced a few on here that have rubbished his development since he decided to leave us 2 seasons ago. The lad is still only 20 and looks like he'll be going to Preston in the summer. I look forward to see him challenging for the top places in the championship next season, assuming of course Preston miss out on the play offs.

We don't vote for a supporters player of the year so how would you know that?

You know quite well that the chances of one of our 20ish year olds getting fans player of the year (if we had one) is absolute zero.

See you still have your pedantic head on.;)

Agreed, great to see him doing well and I hope he gets a move to the championship this summer. Will be interesting to see how he gets on the that level. I think it says a lot about his character too that he chose to go and play in league 1 rather than stay in our academy till 21/22 and then stagnate which is what a lot of kids seem to do.

He’s setting an example to the likes of Dowell and Connolly who I suspect most of our fans would like to see sold anyway :p

Will also be interesting to see if Walsh can break into the Bristol team next year

I came across this write up by Four Four Two which named for each PL club “ one youth product who could be next to play for the first team” . It surprised me a bit that for us they went for Antonee Robinson, I think part of the criteria is that they hadn’t played first team football, so Beni would be excluded.

Everton have successfully blooded Jonjoe Kenny at right-back this season and, with the evergreen Leighton Baines starting to slow a little, they could be set to do the same on the other side of the pitch next season with Robinson.

A Premier League 2 champion with Everton in 2016/17, the athletic full-back has gone on to gain senior experience on loan at Bolton this season, where he has shown promise with a series of hard-working performances up and down the left flank in trying circumstances.

Robinson is eligible to represent England or the Republic of Ireland, but received his first international call-up by the United States last month. He recently revealed his plans to return to Goodison Park this summer to challenge for a place in the first-team squad.

...you would think if he was going to have a future at Everton he wouldn’t have gone on loan. We only had Baines who was vulnerable to injury yet this lad still went off to Bolton and we subsequently used a back up RB (Martina) as cover for Baines. It seemed odd to me when Robinson was allowed to go on loan, I could only conclude he had no future because the circumstances were perfect for him to stay.
