Everton Youth Teams Thread

I have been meaning to write it for sometime but behind the golden generation bracket we have now, there's very little coming through in the next age group.

Imo that team was always going to struggle tonight and would be relegated in the u23 league.

I know there a young team but some of the optimism aimed at some of these players is definitely seen through rose tinted glasses.

Hilton, Yates, Foulds, Williams, Feeney, Yarney, Henen, Kiersey, Sambou, Broadhead, Byrne

How many of these players are regularly bigged up through rose tinted glasses? Only Feeney, sometimes Williams, Broadhead and Hornby are noted as having the potential to make it at Everton I believe.

Might be the reason Unsworth was talking in January about bringing in 3-4 new faces.

There's an interesting piece here on the success of Everton's academy players since 2000 - http://www.[Publication is blacklis...my-been-in-producing-professional-footballers

A few names that jogged the memory there!

Just goes to show how impressive a job the likes of Ray Hall have done with the academy over the years. Whether it is first-teamers, financial assets (sounds cold but true) or developing players to have careers lower down the ladder, we've done a great job developing kids.....when they may have vanished out of football had they come through at another club. Interesting article there.

Tom Davies is at 28 in La Gazetta's list of 30 best players u20 in Europe, Sessegnon at 26 and Rashford 4 are the others. Thought I'd post here rather than his thread as some names have appeared on our wish list.

28. Tom Davies - CM - Everton
27. Nikola Milenković - CB - Partizan Belgrade
26. Ryan Sessegnon - LB - Fulham
25. Manuel Locatelli - CM - AC Milan
24. Ante Coric - CAM - Dinamo Zagreb
23. Federico Chiesa - RW - Fiorentina
22. Kai Havertz - CAM - Bayer Leverkusen
21. Enes Ünal - ST - FC Twente (on loan from Man City)
20. Jeremie Boga - CAM - Grenada
19. Borja Mayoral - ST - Wolfsburg (on loan from Real Madrid)
18. Jesús Vallejo - CB - Eintracht Frankfurt (on loan from Real Madrid)
17. Alexander Isak - ST - Borussia Dortmund
16. Theo Hernández - LB - Alavez (on loan from Atletico Madrid)
15. Youri Tielemans - CM - Anderlecht
14. Emre Mor - CAM - Borussia Dortmund
13. Benjamin Henrichs - RB - Bayer Leverkusen
12. Issa Diop - CB - Toulouse
11. Jean-Kévin Augustin - ST - PSG
10. Mikel Oyarzabal - LW - Real Sociedad
9. Breel Embolo - ST - Schalke 04
8. Kasper Dolberg - ST - Ajax
7. Malang Sarr - CB - OGC Nice
6. Ruben Neves - CM - FC Porto
5. Kylian Mbappé - LW - AS Monaco
4. Marcus Rashford - ST - Manchester United
3. Renato Sanches - CM - Bayern Munich
2. Gianluigi Donnarumma - GK - AC Milan
1. Ousmane Dembele - RW - Borussia Dortmund

Looks to me like Gazzetta have spent too long on Footy Manager rather than actually looking at some of the stats and performances of some of these players.

Lads, @Robertoe @Sportlad If you'd just been honest and had the courtesy to get in touch, we might have helped you.

As is, your publication is now blacklisted across our comms and I'll drop a note to a mailing list of other fan sites about your strategic spam.

They were not doing well at all until Evans was sent back down and things started to turn around. I think at the time I felt it was done to help shore up the team as opposed to fighting it out with DCL etc.. who knows but it made a huge difference.

I don't think it was solely down to Evans mate. The u18 sides that started the first four games were young , relatively inexperienced and I think as everybody agrees lacking in quality in many positions Then they brought back Morgan Feeney,Beni Baningime, Jack Kiersey as well as Evans and they started to win. There's little doubt in my mind that those four are our best 2nd year scholars, although Shayne Lavery showed promise but seems to have disappeared, possibly injured.

The point everyone made is a good one. The two age groups following Dowell's & Kenny's age group are nowhere near as strong. It will be interesting to see what is coming through in following years.

Everton u18s have just beat Newcastle u18s 2-0 with goals from Denny and Virtanen,
