Player Valuation: £380m
Just something I wanted to do, others might find it interesting or they might not.

THIS is not a thread to pat David Moyes on the back, nor is it a thread to compare his spend with other Clubs, its just something I found interesting.

I used http://www.transferleague.co.uk/prem...transfers.html as a source, I scanned thru the ins and outs, they all seem "legit", the thing that "worrys" me the most is Darron Gibson £2,000,000 and Nikica Jelavic £6,000,000.

Both these deals seem high considering amounts we have been told, but I will use these figures, even tho I suspect they are incorrect.

To break it down, its 5.6m over 11 Years.

Now untill 09 we nearly always had a Net spend, in 09 things changed, there was a shortfall in the "Lescott" deal and since then we have had minus Net spends, last Year we sold lots and bought nothing till January, infact we went 2 and a half years without signing anybody.

So prior to 09 we spent 27.4m and from 09 to 12 we spent -21.8m, what did happen in 2009?

Banks called in there loans or something

but you have to ask with moyes spending very little, why arent we lloking better financially, most other clubs would of been debt free if they had run the way we have been for the last decade, but we still seem to be owing banks money.

Other operating costs lad

£5.6M (probably lower) as a net spend over 11 years is disgraceful for a premiership club given the various tv money deals that have been in place. Can only assume we need to syphon off income to meet "Other Operating Costs", which is annoying given no-one, not even the board, know what they consist of.

I think you have Net spend and Gross spend mixed up there buddy.

Most of the TV money is tied up in wages anyways, same with all the other clubs, they just make a higher profit or have a generous board to increase spending.

Well you'd assume that we overspent up till 2009 and used up all our credit sources so therefor since then we have been paying for it.

Or Bill had some plays to fund or something about lawnmowers!

It's the wages that cripple us financially.

I remember a time when our top players were on around 40k a week, now they're close to 80k.

The increase in wages is what led to the debt.

Without refurbishing Goodison or moving to a new stadium we are pretty much hamstrung as to the amount of income we can generate , eg Arsenal make £3m a game our income is £800,000, Also we have Outsourced or corporate hospitality to Sodexo and our income from kits and associated products to Kitbag, we rent our training ground and have a 25year loan deal with Bear Stearns, the money from this was used to pay debts whereas Newcastle with a similar loan used it to rebuild St James's Park and increase its capacity to 48000. We are borrowing on future earnings from Sky TV and future season ticket sales ... That's why we're skint

Your figures are pointless though mate as they don't take into account anything other than debatable fees for permanent transfers.

Loans are not included, neither are signing on fees or agent fees and so on.

We all know Moyes hasn't had the backing he should have, but your figures are pretty tenuous.

On the one hand it is incredibly impressive that we have improved so much under Moyes with a net spend of less than £6 million.

On the other hand, it's disgusting that a team like Everton has only been given less than £6 million in over 10 years our of our owners pocket without other player sales. That's a little over £500,000 a season. Awful.

That's if these figures are correct like.

Please take your well thought out correctly made points elsewhere lad

THIS IS A BILL BASHING ZONE

Honestly mate, I had no agenda upon making this thread, it wasnt intended to bash the Board or indeed praise Moyes, whilst its clear both these things will happen, it wasnt the intention of the thread.

Transfer fees are available to me, wages, Sky money, agents fees and other costs relating to transfers and the running of a Football Club not so. Well they are all out there, in the Published accounts, but I honestly dont understand it, so thus its not something I will "take on".

It was purely an exercise I wished to undertake and thought I would share my "findings".

Yes mate I'm sure this thread had nothing to do with your undying love for Moyes. Purely a coincidence no doubt!

But it's just futile getting caught up in the figures as they are convoluted at best, at worst downright shady. Undisclosed fees stink and they are rife, and that's why there's a lot of speculation. When you add up so many debatable figures it all gets completely unreliable.

The gist of it though is that Moyes hasn't had much backing. That's hardly a find mate. It's common knowledge!

That's true but it also applies the other way with regard to loan fee's. Although we are prolific loaners.

For me the big firesales have been due to overstretching on the wages more than anything.

Most of the players we have seen leave have been the big earners.
