Rain king: Cesc Fabregas stars in the Spain midfield in Armenia on Saturday

Manchester City are ready to join the race to sign Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.
Mark Hughes' free-spending side would rival Barcelona and Real Madrid in a bidding war for the 22-year-old, according to Spanish newspaper AS.
Fabregas insists his commitment to the Gunners should not be questioned, but City would be interested should the situation change next summer.

Barcelona insiders are confident of landing the midfielder, and may even make a move in January, though Fabregas has also emerged as a prime target for Madrid.
If he did leave Arsenal, the Catalan would most likely prefer a return to Barca, where he came through the ranks before moving to north London as a 16-year-old.

Gunners hero: Fabregas puts in an inspired performance against Blackburn

But Madrid and City can both outbid the European champions and pay higher wages. Hughes' side may seem like a step down, but their long-term plan - and money - has already attracted Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor from Arsenal.

Madrid president Florentino Perez has already set about planning transfers for next summer and the fallout from losing to Sevilla 11 days ago has focussed the mind.
The Spanish giants are confident of landing Chelsea and Manchester United target Franck Ribery from Bayern Munich and hope Fabregas will add quality to the midfield.
They are also ready to use buyback options on Sevilla's Alvaro Negredo and Getafe's Daniel Parejo in a bid to add depth to the squad.

Man Citeh or Barca? Now which one would I chose? Ummmmmmmmmm.

HAHAHAHA Citeh are like dogs scaving around the dinner table looking for expensive scraps.

He would only ever leave Arsenal for Barca. Arsenal aren't far off being a top side again anyway when they get their players back.

Not sure where he'd fit in at Barca. Can't see him displacing either Xavi or Iniesta and putting him in the middle alongside those two would make it overly attacking imo. They need that cover that the holding player provides.

There's no chance of him going to City or Real, he does have affection for Wenger and his brand of football but has always made his desire to return to Barca clear. Money isn't the be all and end all for everyone.

He'll stick around at Arsenal for a season or two then go to Barca. Xavi is what, 29 now? For a centre mid that's getting on a bit, and Fabregas is clearly a natural successor. Iniesta and Fabregas in the middle would scare the living daylights out any team in Europe.

But it seems like he's target number 1 for em. Reminds me of the Ronaldo thing with Real...all the presidents and players saying they want him. So I do think that if Arsenal dont win anything this year (and there's every chance Citeh could pip them for Champs League this season) he'd be off to Barca with Robinho.

But Citeh are just sniffing about as usual. Robinho goes then they need another name player to project the "image".

He'll go to Barca eventually, Xavi's successor. The guy is 29 though, so it'll be a few years before Fabregas leaves the gunners yet.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Xavi play on for a long time. He's not a box to box player ala Gerrard and doesn't really rely on pace in the way that Iniesta does. He's got great technique and can pick a pass with the best of them. I don't think either of those will diminish much with age. I can't imagine him ever being sold either, he's going to be at Barca until he retires I should think.

The Robinho rumour makes more sense as Henry is that much older. I suppose one option would be for Iniesta to replace Henry and Fabregas to slot in midfield.

I really think he'l stay at Arsenal. He's captain there, the side is being built around him and Arsenal have some wonderful players. On there day, Arsenal are unbeatable, best team in England, they just don't have those days as often as they would like - so i think it would be worth Cesc staying.

He has a superb manager, the respect of the dressing room and fans and he is still very young. If he does end up at Barca, why go now? He could wait till he is 27 or 28.

Also look at the players who have left Wenger for pastures new and their careers have stalled.....Viera, Petit, Overmars, Anelka, Hleb and many more i cannot think of at the minute. The grass isn't always greener on the other side.
