Fan Advisory Board

Read the summary and was interested to know more on the football strategy part. It sounds a bit too corporate sound-bite. I hope it's not. I'm fine if they do not want to reveal too much on the strategy. But I'm not sure how the other fans could get a sense of whether the strategy is something that is tangible or ridiculous. To be fair, I think the club's intentions aren't bad - and I am just not sure how effective FAB would be in improving communication with fans?

But "shaping a consistent identity across all Everton teams" do make me wonder if Thelwell knows what exactly the identity is. All his predecessors said something similar.

These things always smack of tokenism to me doubtless the corridors of power see it as perfunctory box ticking exercise but as a genuine fan input measure I just don't see it. Can't see Everton officials starting the meeting with "is mosh a magic man or just another 'kin melt?".

That's exactly what it is.

The fan led review (that came about post the snakey six super soccer league) suggested fan representation at board level. This was typical Everton wanting to be 'first' down that path. (of course, it's a million miles away from a fan sat on the board which was original aim of the review.)

The club have cancelled AGMs (again) and I don't think we'll ever see them back. If they were honest about wanting to engage they should re-instate the AGMs, invite shareholders (as they used to) but also expand it to a ballot of ST holders.

Crucially, they'd need to have a prolonged 'questions from the floor' session, where people can ask the board 'live' as opposed the last AGM where they took the piss with pre-recorded answers to questions submitted by e-mail. (Our revered board, what would Everton do etc)

I'm sure everyone who ran for a place on the FAB did it with the best intentions of making a difference but they'll realise soon enough it's a waste of time. If that is the case, I suspect at least one or two will resign their positions. Others will be happy to be involved and have a cuppa with 'Sharpy.'

What would Everton do? Pretend to engage but in reality laugh at us all.

1/5

Last night we met with officials from EFC for a scheduled quarterly meeting.

We were informed at very short notice that there would be no Board representatives attending the meeting - contrary to the requirements of the Memorandum of Understanding we have in place with EFC

2/5

We thank those Club officials that did attend and who engaged in constructive discussion/consultation on matters that are important to Evertonians, such as:
• Transition to the new stadium
• Governance
• Investment
• Fan engagement
• Embracing the heritage of our Club

3/5

As speculation builds about investment/ownership/strengthened leadership at EFC, we also urge any prospective investors/future leaders to prioritise engaging with and understanding the views of Evertonians - something the current board has decided not to do this year

4/5

We’ll continue working with the club, providing input into important and future decisions while also raising strategic matters as they emerge.

A summary of the meeting will be published over the coming days.

5/5

Ahead of the 2023/24 season, there will be 3 FAB positions that Evertonians can elect:
• 1x Evertonian over 18
• 1x Evertonian representing a protected characteristic from the Equality Act 2010
• 1x
@WeAreTheFSA
Evertonian

Given the last official statement the FAB put out was asking Moshiri to make changes to the board and leadership of the club is it any surprise they didn't meet with them. lol

Pretty sure no one turned up to the last one as well. In fact it's probably only been Thelwell ho they've wheeled out in the hope he bores everyone to death with his 6000 point plan that didn't t include signing a striker

Not to blow my own trumpet, but uncannily accurate.

The most kenwright-Esque pantomime possible this useless thing - a fan board that the club pretends and play acts at engaging with, when in actuality it’s nothing more than more shell entity - the acme corporation fan board - delivering nothing but good times since 2022.

You were too kind, much more cynical me personal glorification at this point , time to walk was the "headlockgate", if not from the onset to be honest.

Think most fan talk about fan involvement in club is a refection of the German model, not in our lives if ever will that happen in the UK, money talks the more centralized which it is rigged to be the more power and influence you have over others.

Atleast we are now the first club to have a failed fan advisory board. Another fantastic first.

Nothing against those involved, it was never going to work as it was the boards token gesture to fans to make them feel more involved. In fact its great we have this as another vessell to hold the club to account, even though it's just by reporting their lack of engagement.

Once they spoke out against the board they have been treated as many others have, such as ex players, and been shafted.

I wouldn't have thought the FAB really expected any of the board to attend at this point. They've been in their bunker for months. Major changes appear to be afoot and I suspect we've seen the last of them in their respective official roles.... people seldom turn up for meetings when on garden leave.

So the FAB simply voiced their concern regards the club's continued failure to meet their responsibilities and completed the formalities of the meeting with the club's representatives present. That's all they can do..... and make it all public afterwards. Even if the only information is that they are being snubbed, short-changed or whatever. It at least reinforces the rumours that the charlatans have left the room.... and if not, they are simply responsible for this dereliction of duty too.
