There was also a refinance loan that ended this year, extra TV money and the possible sale of Fellaini all points to a fairly healthy transfer pot.

But... This is Everton we're talking about.

Aye this is true. We're now in the position were were willing selling one of our better players so we can afford to bring in some new players. We've been conditioned well. Surely there can't be too many more years of this?
It's Lescott revisited. I accept that, tbh. It's what you have to put up with when you've got a **** for an owner. I'm just concerned now we dont drag the Fellaini sale out.

I'd be staggered if we spent more than we brought in through sales.

This is the concern. How much will RM actually see?

Kenwright's confirmation at the Martinez presser that the release clause does indeed exist, does not bode well.
It was like he was putting Felli in the shop window. Need to sell another asset to keep the banks away.

I for one would do everything to keep him, even if that meant offering him higher wages again.

Offload some of the older and fringe players first. Even if that means the likes of Pienaar, Osman and Hibbert.
The reduction in wage bill is also going to help. Bill would have got Roberto at a snip of what he was paying Moyes.

I think he was just being honest when asked if he was hopefull of keeping our star players. Like he said, no one is for sale but we all know one player as a release clause.

And we'd be in such a sh!t state of affairs if we couldnt appease the banks with some of the new TV money thats coming in and would need to sell aswell to pay are annual fees?!!.

By all accounts we make £80m plus a season but are costs are around about £90m and we make a £5m lose each season. With the new TV deal, every club is getting around about 30, 40 million plus extra on top of what they originally got, so instead of bringing in £80m plus, we could be getting near on £120m a season for the next 3-5 seasons, so if we cant use some of that extra money to pay off debt AND use towards a transfer kitty, then summat is seriously wrong?!!.

You should think so, shouldn't you? As ever the optimist here heading into the summer transfermarket, but usually coming out a bit underwhelmed at the end. we should really have a go though this year. Will be an important season for everyone connected with Everton Football Club. Will Martinez be given the backing he needs to build on from the foundations laid out by Moyes or will the decline set in?

????

Just hazarding a guess at what the board have put aside from the new TV money for Martinez's kitty before sales. I reckon its around about £8-10m going by are bids in Jan (£8.6m for Fer, didnt happen so we bid £10m for Negredo at the last minute).

We clearly put up money somehow in jan on the strength of new money coming in this summer. Weve never put money like that up for him before in Jan, let alone in the summers gone by, weve always had to wheel and deal, but cos new money is coming in this summer, the board wanted to help Moyesy try and improve are prospects of making CL last season but for whatever reason, we didnt sign the players and we didnt make the CL either.

"There is some work going on already and over the next few weeks we need to make sure that we bring the right characters as well as the right players to the football club," the Spaniard said.

"It's important we identify the type of help we need in the dressing room and in the team. We must make sure they are a type of footballer who will fit in with the train of thought at Everton FC."

Sounds like he's similar to Moyes in that he wants to make sure new players are of the right mentality to fit in with our great team spirit. So basically a 'no bellends rule' which has got to be a good thing.

Martinez has given this impression yes. Likes of Drenthe are big no no.

This might also mean there will be no "big marquee" signings coming, working class heroes lads.
(cmoon bobby give us even one super exciting signing)x

I honestly think, even our board can see this as a huge chance to clean the slate financially and push hard for the champions league. I think this, then i think the badge, then i think about going to bed in tears at how stupid powerful people can be.

I can see it going like this . We sell Fellaini and standard will get there share so we will have about 20 million then I can see bill giving an extra 10 million to the kitty from the January money and his usual money which won't be much . I can then see him using some tv money to get rid of the debt and use the other half for January transfer window as he doesn't want to repeat what went on this January . The year we sold Arteta he must have used all that to reduce some debt as we didn't buy anyone. If we can reduce the debt by 10 million a season without drastically dipping into the transfer pot then we will be alright

I think you're right regarding debt reduction. Basically we're playing off the possibility of using the new cash to get onfield rewards with banking it with the possibility of attracting a new owner.

Kenwright and his fellow carpetbaggers are such a millstione around our necks I'm beginning to think that persisting with a sell to buy existence is the right course of action if we can secure their departure. They're a curse that needs lifting. We cant go on much longer with these people dragging us down.

I hope you're right mate.

Anyone know our record without him playing while suspended or injured?

Normally I'd agree with you, but I have an odd feeling that we will actually have some money to spend this summer. Not silly amounts, obviously, but I do think there'll be some available, plus whatever gets brought in.

All supposition at this point of course.
