Simon Buttle

Player Valuation: £60m
I came across this video with lot's of old footage of Puskas and it's probably the best stuff I have ever seen of him. I know we have a few older members on the forum and was just wondering if any of them actually saw him play and how good was he?

My old man saw him play in the flesh in the 1950s at Molineux. Reckons he, and his Honved team mates, were some of the best he watched. High praise indeed, as he watched sone of the greats from the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Yeah my Grandad lived to a fairly ripe old age and so was able to have seen everyone from Dixie up to going to GP and watching Pele but the one he always used to go on about how the 'Hungarian fatman' was just different level to everyone else.

The narrator needs to calm down!

Some player, but William Ralph Dean laughs at his paltry record of 40 odd goals in one season.

This club does not make enough out of Dixie Dean. He should be mentioned in the same breath as Eusebio, Cruyff, Puskas, Di Stefano, Messi, Ronaldo, Garrincha and only just short of Pele and Maradona.

Manager of Panathanaikos when we played them in the European Cup QF March 1971. Jimmy Husband in the form of his left. Crocked after about 20 minutes I think. That is my main thought when Puskas is mentioned.

He is of the highest echelon. I fully agree that he should be made more of. Even the most casual of football fans no matter where they are in the world should know his name. If they don't, our PR are failing.
