It's not even close in terms of gameplay. In terms of graphics, some players look incredible in PES, others look hideous, but I play a game because it's a game, and in that sense PES is ridiculously ahead of FIFA.

Resource wise, PES isn't in the same universe as FIFA, so to have the better gameplay (according to the majority of the critics) is quite the achievement.

The presentation in PES is an absolute mess in all honesty. Surely they could overhaul that quite easily? The gameplay is supposed to be the difficult bit!!

The graphics are sound, I prefer the character models and animations to FIFA (shock!) but everything else is inferior.

potentially though mate, different horses and all that.

I mostly play career mode, so Fifa is the better option for me longevity wise. Whereas if i was more social or played more online then i would be swayed more by the gameplay and pick pes up instead.

Sadly your gameplay thing is just wrong mate.

As Ash says (spit) everyone likes something different though. I like them both as they play a different type of footie game.

I hate it when people say 'oh PES is for people who actually play football'. Is it bollox. Neither game is even close to playing a realistic game of football.

But if you wanted that you'd just play football.

In what way is it objectively ridiculously ahead ? That seems to me to be a rather strange exaggeration.

And tbh saying most critics think something isn't much of an argument, shouldn't be for you anyway. Most critics think that Gone Home is superb but you think it's tosh.

In the same way Football Manager was ahead of Premier Manager. That much of a difference. No exaggeration.

I get that people like different things, but when judging it as a simulation of football, one is objectively better than the other if you value that element of the game. If you value presentation, online features etc., FIFA is the better game, but for me the meat of a football game is the actual football.

I wish FIFA was the better game this year too by the way, for numerous reasons.
