Fifa now saying Suarez may still miss final.

All bollox.

If they can do it for players, they should be able to do it for refereeing decisions.

Is a player proven to be diving on tv any less an issue? Suarez didn't cheat. He reacted. Every player would do the same.

Just because it was an African team shouldn't make any difference.

He's probably a national hero back home.

I don't have much of a problem with it. FIFA are just nerds.

If they have changed the rules for it then they are massive blerts and I hope Blatter gets severe genital herpes.

Suarez is a hero for snides all over the world, I wish the African team love in would do one, they're tits.

i think FIFA sentimentality is getting a bit too much now.

yes it would have been nice for ghana to be in the semis but it didn't happen.

In situations such as Suarez deliberately hand balling a certain goal why should that team get the benefit of the opposition having to take a penalty. I believ power should be given to the ref in clear cut cases such as that to award the goal and red card the player.

I am sure that if it happened to Everton in an FA Cup semi or last game of the season which would make a difference of Euro football or not you would soon sing a different tune.

That would be a biased opinion, and not a neutral one.

20:27 Commentary Breaking news: Uruguay's Luis Suarez has NOT been given an extra one-match ban by Fifa for his red card against Ghana on Friday. So if they beat the Netherlands and reach the final, Suarez will be eligible.

Good. You can't retroactively change the rules. That goes against all the crap FIFA say. Sure now this situation has surfaced amend the rules for the future, but you can't punish a player twice....

Good news, although realistically he was never going to get the extra one-match ban. The reason is that what Suarez did was a foul, not cheating. Denial of a goal by the use of the hands (I can't remember the exact wording, but it is very clear that the rule refers to both the denial of a goal and the denial of a clear goalscoring opportunity) is described as a foul and an automatic red card by the rulebook, it is not serious foul play and so there were never any grounds for FIFA to do anything.

I fully applaud him, he selflessly operated within the rules of the game and saved his country from missing a World Cup semi-final.

I actually agree with this.

There's a punishment for this offense but not harsh enough.

Not only red card the player, but award the goal.
