Touching pictures mate. Really do feel for you Ozzies. Been on holiday to Australia in 2006 and fell in love with your amazing country. Have a mate over there who was working at the university of Newcastle (NSW) at the time. Last year moved to Townsville (Queensland). He luckily hasn't encountered any problems as of yet. Those firemen are real heroes, something that goes unnoticed far to often.

Mcb . I was just about to start a new thread on this very issue . Swear to God .
My angle , to be honest , was about the Murdering bastards whom thought itd be a lark to start a few fires .
Gentlemen , as a species , morally , we have regressed . I will have it no other way . I hope they find them , and helicopter them above an area of particularly well alight forest , and hurl the fukas out . No parachutes needed , the trees will break their fall . Oh wait there , they are all on fire .
Oh well . C'est la vie .
Heart-felt condolences to all concerned .

I dont understand the mindset of people like that. They are usually volunteers too, going out and starting fires hoping they get called in.

They need stringing up.

Are you serious ? 'Cause that would take a whole
" Couch " ( Collective Noun ) of Psychiatrists a hell of a lot of
" sessions " , to even scratch the surface .
Fuk my dog !! Where are we as a species , my mate ??
Madness just doesn't quite say it .

Terrible pictures. They are heroes, that picture of the Kaola (sp?) bear being given water is absolutely superb.

RIP.

a medal should be struck for the guys and girls who are out there !!

saw some on the news and their skin was blistered from the heat but still they are out there trying to put them out.

heroes........

DEFINATELY.

Shocking how bad it's gotten this year... I spent 3 years in Melbourne at uni, were always a few little blazes that maybe took down a house or 2, but nothing remotely near the scale of destruction we're seeing now.

Whilst yes, I want to see the arsonists caught and dealt with - I don't want some stupid kid/s to feel the full wrath of everyone who's lost a family member, a friend or a house... These fires are too widely spread to allow one or two scapegoats to take the full brunt of the entire public's rage - Can see bad [Poor language removed] happening, lynch-mob style.

The death toll could've been so much higher, full marks to the firemen, volunteers and those people sensible enough to get out of the way early and not test nature.

It's truly awful whats going on in Oz at the moment. An out of tragic events come Hero's. An as Usual it the Firemen, hero's every last one of them. Not matter what counrty your in the the bravest people around an always at the frount line.

Hope the Fire's stop soon an the aussies can get back to some normal living. Must be awful to lose everything you have.

R.I.P .......

I'll never have anything but respect for somebody willing to put their lives on the line for the good of others

Can you believe people in this country call them out to fires started on purpose, just so they can attack them & rob their equipment? Makes me sick to the pits of my stomach when I think about it
