Fixed or variable tariffs

I see small things. Only bigger.
What's the consensus of opinions on this for your gas and electricity?

Fixed tariffs are now being offered but its hard to find out if the UK public are switching to them or staying on their variable payment plans.

With the cost going up in the new year, but supposedly dropping a great amount the other way come spring, choosing to commit to either is a quandary for many.

Discuss and say what you are doing/have done.

Martin Lewis' most recent advice

- Should you fix energy now? Based on the latest Price Cap predictions over the next 12mths, when energy prices are expected to fall, there are currently no fixes worth considering for most. Yet locking in a fix below Jan's rate would give you price certainty during winter, when you use the most energy - and predictions can change.

My view us always this .... if a big Corp asks you to do something it's for their best interest. If they make something available for you to find if you search hard enough, it's purely to make them look competitive and is probably in your interests.

I've had so many emails from British gas (supplier of last resort ... no way I'd choose them) asking me to lock in then it's a firm no.
