I’ve seen some stuff being banded around on here saying that football should be kept separate from politics and it’s made me think, should it?

I kind of get the point but it usually is said by people who have similar political views, although that could be coincidence.

Depends what is meant by politics.

The anti racism campaign and the LGBTQ+ campaigns are not politics despite what the gammons who get triggered by them tell you. (Being racist and homophobic is not a political choice, the same way being born a certain race or sexuality isn’t).

Support to end poverty (use of food banks) or supporting victims of war (Ukraine) are both politics, but is anyone against really against clubs doing things for those purposes?

Most people entering politics are simply seeking control over other people, to increase their own wealth through power. The running of the country should best be given to those people who don't want to do it.

Football is just people hoifing a bladder of air about to gain the accolade of others. It SHOULD be done by those who want to or can do it.

Everton are the exception.

There was always a lot of politics in football, hell, symbolic start of war here in ex-Yugoslavia were riots at football game between Dinamo Zagreb and Red Star Belgrade in 1990

Barca and Catalonia independence, Atletic Bilbao and Basque, Celtic and Rangers etc......

Tories definitely poison the public view of politicians, especially the public school millionaires they put front and center. Most MPs though have worked their way through a number of local council and community roles… and this is certainly true of the Labour MP I know too.

Keeping with the Tories for a second then, they and Farage have managed to normalise discrimination and make it a political choice. It isn’t really politics and community pillars like Everton can play their part in speaking out against it.

Actual politics… nah, just footy init.

Every single politician is a snake oil salesman.

Doesn’t matter if they’re Labour, Conservative or other. They’re all power hungry egomaniacs with their own agendas. Anyone who sticks up for a political party is a useful idiot.

Everton are depressing enough, we don’t need to add politics in to the mix here.
