Just wondering as I came across this website, The Blizzard this morning and I was about to impulse buy a subscription, but then I realized I know nothing of them and could be wasting the 45 bucks for it.

Looks somewhat interesting like they focus on the analytical side of football, which I'm not very well versed in and would like to improve my knowledge of that.

Anyone ever pick up a magazine of theirs or is their reputation solid in terms of the quality of their work?

Doesn't have to be similar to this site, but if anyone has any subscriptions they'd recommend I'd appreciate it. I got 442, which is okay, but I don't really learn much from it.

Don’t know The Blizzard at all but I highly recommend When Saturday Comes (WSC) magazine. It has it all really, lower leagues, world football and tackles the issues of today like fan ownership, racism, super league etc
Interesting. Given that I'm in the states I definitely don't follow the lower leagues that closely. The other stuff, fan ownership, racism, super league is along the lines of off the field things I'm interested in. Definitely checking that out.

Edit: I understand my location making things more expensive and longer shipping times of course. But wow that place really bends over people outside of the UK... lol were they for brexit?

76 bucks for just 12 issues. If you're in the UK it's 23 bucks and you get a free shirt or book. I just can't let them take advantage of me like that. Shame cuz it looks like a really good magazine and site.

WSC is brilliant for a grass roots perspective.

Happy reading mate ?

The Blizzard is good. It goes into a lot of depth on single issues. There's also now an online spin off called the Squall.

I gain all my football knowledge from the good folk of GOT
What they dont know about everything from up and coming 7 year old world beaters to the financial intricacies of every tiny detail of where every penny from the sale of sausage rolls goes.

What them lads dont know quite frankly ain't worth diddly squat

I have a subscription. It's pretty good. Not just analytical stuff but also niche stuff, that journalists would not be allowed to publish in normal newspapers because the mainstream would not be interested. A lot of obscure historical stuff too.

The Blizzard is good. It hits that seem between academic writing on football and fanzine type writing. A good blend.

What's more they are good people. They created 'The Squall' - a spin off from the Blizzard for independent researchers and writers on football to publish their stuff and receive a payment during the Covid19 pandemic.
