Sometimes guns in the hands of everyday Joe public does not always mean 'someone else' gets killed.
All very sad. Awful way to go, the depths plunged to go through with such an act, and then to pull the family into it is devastating.

Was he a high profile player?

As a Jaguars fan, Steve McNair delivered a large ratio of misery to me for many years. This is tragic news.

Steve McNair had a rare combination of strength and toughness, as well as an unmatched knack for "lengthening the play." You could defend the rest of the offense perfectly, and he could shake off defenders like a dog shakes fleas and go downfield to get one more first down - or, beat you deep if you started to roll up your safeties to cover the run - his arm was to be feared and respected. He was a singular talent - few will bring his kind of size and tenacity to the quarterback position.

He led his team to the Super Bowl, only to fall one yard short of victory as time expired, and played a couple of years longer than he should have - mostly limited by pain and injury. The Baltimore experiment was not much good for him or the Ravens. Yes - he was a high profile player, and was likely the greatest player in the history of the Nashville football team. Many condolences to his family and friends. It's a sad day, and it's even sadder in Tennessee and Mississippi. R.I.P. big fellow.
