He's shown no evidence of that in his career so far. Failed at Derby despite having a lot of resource. Sacked by Chelsea. Just not clear what he brings to us beyond excuses and deflection. If the players can't deliver your tactics beyond the first 20mins of a game, is that about them or about the manager?
It has to be about the players doesn't it? They proved they can deliver the tactics, so what stopped them continuing?

Did you watch games or just look at the table in the Sunday news papers?
No i watched games, and looked at results, I correctly predicted at the time it was a bad move unless we had a suitable replacement lined up, which we didnt, without question it was the dumbest thing to happen to Everton since Moshiri unfortunatly turned up and history confirms this

But if the tactics stall after 20mins, maybe because the other team adjusts something, then its on the manager to adjust again and get the team back on top. Its not like you just wind the team up with one instruction and then hope it doesn't fail over the 90mins.
I know what you're saying but in each case it hasn't been a tactical change it's been our inability to keep the pace/organisation up and our mental inability to cope with going a goal down thats causing more of a problem.

Them. Giving what i have witnessed from the vast majority of this lot for a few years.
We pinned palace back in the cup for a good 15/20 mins. We had to get our noses in front. If we did its suddenly great tactics. We never because we have very little goal threat.
The flip side to that is sit deep and be tight. The previous manager tried that. We were on the crest of a slump relegation form.
Everyone seems to have answers. I dont anymore. All i know is we've recruited players who are so fragile and lack any kind of bottle as soon as they go behind.
Lampard might be a disaster or he may have just taken the worst job in top flight english football.

Got to the playoffs in his first ever job, resources or not that’s decent for your first ever attempt at management. Champions League with a transfer ban is not bad either, Chelsea were a good team but he was still very inexperienced and could have easily messed that up.
I do think he has something about him, I just hope he gets a clean slate in the summer with some of the fringe players gone and a pre-season and transfer window to do what he wants. He had a weekend in January to get players in to save us, that’s tough for anyone.

I can't decide if it's a logical, albeit unsuccessful (so far), plan to get a goal early and make the other team chase the game, opening them up to counters, or if he's just telling them to run around like lunatics for as long as they can sustain it.

Being aggressive against better teams at home like Chelsea, United and Leicester will see us having our arses handed to us.

No. You keep bodies behind the ball and make it a tight game until deep into the second half and then try and snatch a winner.

What happens when “ deep into the second half” comes and we are 3-0 down ?

Think if we do go down or not he has to stay we need just keep a manager in place now to build a team been to many is a reason why the squad is a mess

This ^^^

Would give Lampard minimum 2 full seasons and if we are showing no signs of improvement then atleast by then we can look for another manager who will suit the squad he will have built in that 2 seasons.

If that happens in games then that happens. But there's only a couple of teams in the PL who you will concede 3 against in the opening 45 minutes if you get behinhd the ball as a team. Against most you'll shut them out entirely if you choose to negate them.
