Good enough to be a regular starter for a really good city side the last couple of seasons but not good enough for us? The only reason he's leaving them is because their midfield is full of players who cost £20-30m and some city fans (who watch him every week) think they've missed him from the side so far this season. He'd make us more solid, help us keep the ball moving and allow our more creative players freedom to express themselves

We won't miss Phil Neville the footballer, but we will miss Phil Neville the captain and leader.
Barry will bring those qualities with him which will be invaluable for youngsters like Barkley,Stones and others.
In addition, Barry is 32 not sixty two,has played nearly every game for City in the last two season, their most successful ever.
On top of all that it is a position in our squad that needs filling. I would hope he will a little steel, experience and leadership to our team.

I don't see the problem with bringing a player like this to our squad.
I hope that it means that money can then be spent on youngsters like McCarthy,Ince and a striker.

Amongst this place and twitter there really is some bad shouts. Anyone who can't see the logic in bringing Barry in on a free, which it will be as he's into his last year, must need there head testing. The lad has been first choice for the one of the best teams in the country for the last 3 or 4 years. Even if he just teaches Barkley afew things it will be worthwhile

Like reading and writing? Thats what school was for surely.

How many games did this lad play in Man City's title winning season 2 years ago?

How many last season for them?

Would be a very, astute, low-risk signing. He's not comparable to Fellaini, but he'll keep Gibson on his toes, replace him when he's inevitable crocked and help limit Osmans exposure on the team. Useful for Barkley too to have an established head next to him.

Some common sense right here.
