We offer extended contacts to players who are past their best (Howard and Barry) and offer rolling one year deals to players who are frankly not good enough (osman, Hibbert and distin). Loved him last season, looks lost this season since the injury. Still rather have him play CB than Distin but rather have browning over them both deserves a chance not put a foot wrong when he's came on and was very good pre-season.

He was bloody awful today, everything went past him and he was seldom in a central midfield position, he was almost in a defender's position. He was as slow as a snail and didn't have an ounce of creativity about him. He was bloody awful.

The fact that there might of been even worse players on the pitch isn't much of an excuse. He urgently needs replacing. If we continue with that in central midfield, then god help us.

The way Martinez has handled him this season has been disastrous really. It seems regardless of fitness or form he's the first name on the team sheet which is ridiculous given his age.

If he'd been rotated as any player at this age should be then I reckon he'd have still been a valuable member of the squad.

Nah this goes above Barry just being a scapegoat like you are suggesting. Fact is the man is in one of the most important positions on the pitch, he's the heartbeat of the team and he should be controlling games, spreading the play, dictating our tempo and protecting the back four. It may seem like a lot to ask but in a possession based side if you don't have a conductor you end up looking like we do - aimless.
