Anything worse than a 6am shift and getting up at 5am? Thats the fate which befalls me for the foreseeable future. Anyone else do this? Anyone mad enough to even like it?:o

I used to have to catch the bus at 5;30 am to get me to Walton to catch the bus to Maghull then had a mile walk to the hospital,didn't mind in the summer but in the snow and rain I was in a bad mood before I even got there,didn't help that I lived a two minute walk away until the wife wanted to move back to wavertree:@

Ah but my shift is not too bad when you get used to it. I can get good distance on the motorways at that time of night. I can make Newcastle, Peterborough or Ross on Wye none stop.

I often drive to Newcastle or Sunderland as I have relatives in Sunderland and she has a mate married to a geordie I hate the drive:@

You get used to it Roy. Only 2 and 3 quarters to Gateshead. Wont have to go up there soon cos our place is opening a depot to cover that area. Could mean job losses for us down here. We had 15 drivers sat in the yard the other day and went home after 10 hrs. On garanteed 10 so were made to stay. Could be just a matter of time before they lay some off tho. They wont pay wages for nothing not in this day and age anyway :unsure:

Shame cos you get to mingle with fans of other clubs up and down the country and you get a good idea what they think of us as a club. Be surprised what you hear.

Its looking bleak all round Ray my young Nephew borrowed off the bank to boost his house deposit get the mortgage and now hes on 60 days notice at work and his girlfriend is not on a great wage either the sister in law is really worried:(

I dont think it will get better for a while Roy. Everywhere is looking to save money. The thing is, were I work we deal with food and everyone needs that but theyre putting more drops on the trucks to cut the drivers down. Big union meeting today at 11.30am but I was in Stourbridge so wont find out whats happened till I go in tonight. Hope they dont strike mate cos Ive not got enough money in the bank to see me thru it. Worrying innit. A few months ago there was about 40 to 50 agency drivers coming in every day. Last few weeks theres been less than a dozen.
