I wanted to say hello and introduce myself to everyone here at G.O.T.
I have been an Everton fan since the day I discovered that football was a worldwide sport/career/lifestyle as opposed to just being played at the local oval for fun!
Why I chose Everton, well I was at a mates house and he is a massive Man Ure fan and they were playing Everton. I wanted his team to lose because he was pissing me off, we didnt but I was instantly drawn into the aurora that was EFC!!!
I went over his house every week to watch the games, when I finally got old enough I went on the internet and bought loads and loads of Everton Supporter Gear. Decked my entire room out TOP to BOTTOM (even on the ceiling I had flags!!)
Time went by and my love and passion increased and increased. Then we signed the kangaroo Tim Cahill which instantly gained a thousand more supporters in Australia (these johnny come latelys are easily spotted by their Cahill Jerseys haha)
I had everything set to take the long journey from Australia to England to watch the FA Cup but my father was admitted to hospital and I decided not to leave his side.
I paid $350 Australian to meet the team when they had their Down Under Tour and had a fantastic chat for about 30mins with my Fav player whom I had been following through juniors/reserves Mr Jack Rodwell, got photos with Saha and Hibbert plus countless others! Worth every single cent!
Over the years I have seen players come and go through our ranks but my favourite remains Rodwell closely followed by Big Dunc and Jags! I love all the lads and believe we have a tight knit unit and everybody has their own role to play in us being successful.
The future is bright with talent such as Barkley coming through, just hope we can hold on and grow.
I am also a founding member of the active supporters group The Cove for my team Sydney FC here in Australia, (you will prob know us from the game Everton played in Sydney as well as us being the team who signed Brett Emerton from Blackburn!)
Anyway I hope to strike up some interesting talk, join the arguments, make some friends and be better prepared for my trip to Merseyside by seasons end!!
