Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

Its only December. There's still 2/3rds of the season to go. He's developing with every appearance. It's so so exciting. What a player. Happy for him to keep on making those mistakes- remember how he bit back at Stoke after feeling disappointed in his Liverpool performance? Well Arsenal fans better be hoping that he isn't feeling all that down about his one-on-one miss vs De Gea...

bollocks if true

I doubt that Barça officials know if they want him back or not. If they want both of them back, you need to sell someone and not buy anybody. Depending on the season that Barça has....If Barça wins the Champions League or at least La Liga, they could do that. If they don't...I'm a barça fan, they will buy at least 1 winger, 1 midfielder and there's literally no room for Deulo or Rafael.

People in Barcelona are seriously mad at " Tata Martino", so if a new coach comes next season and it's not from "La Masia" .....I doubt they will come back.

There's a lot of scenarios.

Would be very surprised if they wanted him back based on his performances here, so far.

I'd have thought the kind of errors he made at 0-1 last night were the reason he was sent here in the first place. He has grown more accustomed to the English game since he's been here, but he hasn't yet considerably improved his own game yet. He has to get his head up and look around him more.

He's been a livewire and difficult to defend against, but he already was before he came here. he also hasn't played a huge amount of game time, so I'd be very surprised if they've already decided to bring him back next season.

Not wanting to be overly critical of the lad. Atm though, he seems to be so eager to impress by using his strengths, he might possibly, so far, have neglected the need to address his weaknesses, like decision making.

Same could be said of Barkley but hes already been pronounced as England's saviour, it'll take a season to iron out those problems. If he isnt picking the right passes by May then he probably never will and will be moved on from Barca.

I see your point, and if he's going to be the 6th striker at Barça, I certainly prefer him at Everton.

As a Barça fan, Maybe he's not making the best of his chances...But he's having the chances. In our last game at Bilbao we lacked someone who could create something for the team, a shot, some energy for the game. You know, the thing that Deulofeu is doing here. He's creating things, even if the final decision making is poor. When he goes out there, the game heats up, you expect things to happen.
When Pedro has the ball I expect a pass backwards, and if we're losing is a terrible feeling.

I don't know what's Barça gonna do, and I'm certain they don't know either. But he's had a huge chance in almost every game that he's been more than 20 minutes. He's shooting 4.7 times /90 minutes. That's Luis Suarez/Aguero territory.

I doubt that Barça will move on from a 19 year old kid when he's already making an impact at Everton (even when he's not passing the ball).

Even more if the kid is the most protected kid in the history of La Masia, he dropped out of school when he was 14 (everyone who has done that has been spelled out from La Masia except him). Has had a lot of incidents with coaches and players when he was young and Barça stil believed in him. (well, on his massive talent)

He will get better, but even if he doesn't he's still a superb option off the bench for any team in the world. Changes games.

He is going to be some player in the future.
I think Barca will look at how he is progressing and make a decision at the end of the season. As a player I think another season at Everton would benefit him hugely. He simply is not under the same pressure or scrutiny at Everton as he is at Barca, yet he is learning the more mundane aspects of being a top footballer under RM.

Maybe young Gerard will fall in love with the backstreets of Walton and slap in a transfer request if and when Barcelona demand him back and tell him he's staying there to fight for a place in the team.

Thing here is....You have to enjoy this season(which is looking great) and then this whole thing will play out.

If he stays, great. If he doesn't, it was a good year. . Getting in Europe would be huge for Barça and Gerard, I think. More experience, more minutes and everything. You never know.

I can't see a scenario where he returns after just 1 season unless some combo of Alexis, Pedro & Tello are gone...Even then, he's really shown nothing to me, so far, that he hasn't already shown for the B team or NT - in truth, I've seen him do more...His capabilities are off the charts, that's never really been the question, just his head and working hard on the defensive end...If he somehow becomes Pedroesque in that regard by the WC, then sure he'll be back sooner than later but I suspect it'll be at least 2 seasons on loan

Ok mate if ya want him back then if we realllly must we will take alexis sanchez on a loan instead ;p

Wish we could keep him. He's so so talented. It always amazes me when he just bursts through multiple people with ridiculous ease. Those are the sort of qualities that are going to make him a force in football for the next 10 years. Hopefully martinez is trying hard to convince him this is the best place for him to learn his football. His end product will come, he's still young and immature, stuck in the I'm as good as they come phase. When he gets rid of that he'll be a star. Hopefully we'll play him more on the left so he can find it easier to be a goal threat.
