I’m a fairly fit 66 year old and in good weather, it was a comfortable walk from town, not sure how that will feel when the rain and the wind are lashing me, also the stupid bridge weight restriction, with the stop/go lollipops - I am sure will be badly received by a big portion of 50k people in bad weather.
I’m sure we’ll work out better routes and get our collective acts together, but the distance to walk may prove to be a way of culling older or less fit people from the Season Ticket list. My dear old dad will never walk that distance, let’s hope systems for disabled are addressed.
Notwithstanding, it was fabulous. What a stadium, when the sirens and Z Cars beat out, hairs stood up on the back of my neck. While I am able, this is going to be fantastic.
