I'm not sure Lucas can do that destructive role for them mate. He's not as bad as the deluded Kopites think, I know, but I think he likes to break forward and hasn't got the discipline that rat face had/has. They'll miss Mascherano badly. The workrate of Mascherano and Kuyt have kept that club falling apart for a few seasons. I think Woy will get as much of the money from the sale as it takes to buy someone like Etuhu from Fulham and the rest will be winging its way to the RBS.

I cant see him staying. All the signs are he'll go - there's no assurances about strengthening that he was looking for - the opposite is the case, in fact. Mascherano getting off to the Champions League winners hammers that point home.

Lucas is decent. He's just been callled up by Brazil again, I think I heard. I really wouldn't rule out him being sold either. I honestly dont think anyone other than Carragher, Gerrard, Agger, Skrtel, Reina, Kyriawhatver are off the table.

I agree if you're talking about retaining possession in the middle of the park. It doesn't look like his strongsuit and that's some problem for a CM to have. He's either a) not up to it or b ) had his confidence shattered by the boo boys at Anfield. Hodgson might show some faith in him and keep him there and bring him on, but, imo, he's be best used in a more forward role and they'd be better off getting in someone to replace Mascherano like for like. Fat chance of that like with their finances.
