Just a comment re the goals we have scored this year. Is it me or have the quality of the goals improved this year? In honesty weve scored all different types of goals with Arteta, Osman, Cahill and Johnson scoring some great goals. Id have to say Fernandes's goal warrants investment, because I havent seen a goal that good (of course Artetas v bolton and Mcfaddens v charlton) since Fergusons header v united in 95 or sharp v liverpool 85. What do you guys think?

I'd agree, but it's not just the quality of the goals, it's also the quantity, when was the last time we scored over 50 goals in a season?!

Some great goals scored, from distance and in close. I do think, with the talent we had last season we shot be taking more long range shots, Arteta obviously can do it, he just needs to do more, more shots on, more chance of scoring. Manny has shown he can do it, and McFadden (we all hear about how he does magical things on the training ground) he seems like he is starting to translate that stuff to the competitive field.

Then we have AJ, Anichebe and Vaughn who have all scored some brilliant close in goals.

I just want more, we have missed so many chances this season. Chances that would have wrapped up fifth, and possibly had us challenging for fourth!

I expect A.J. to get over 15 next season Because he will have one season with us under his belt and hopefully he will not be injured for as many games. Also has to be rembered he played much of the seaon upfront by himself. With a striking partner alongside him and the space this would create he may be even capable of 20 on form,

Controversy, I was disappointed with AJ's final return at the end of the season, defences sussed him, squeeze him out to the corner flag and he disappeared up his own arse, he will have to be more creative. Just my opinion mind. :(

As for the amount of goals scored, it had to be an improvement on last terms record low. This term everyone has threatened to score which is refreshing, more long shots tried rather than continuously try and walk it into the net via BT, with him missing of course. Next season we go into the campaign in the assured knowledge that we have two fearless young strikers, with a bunch coming through behind them.:P

Lescott and Yobo threaten to score most games and Stubbsy will always have a pop with head or foot.

We are a more positive side this term, this time last year I was beating the drum for both Vic and James, no need now because we are going places and I'll be mortified if we don't score even more next year.(y) (y) (y)

On that point Monty, perhaps the problem for AJ has been the burden of doing it all on his own up front. Vaughan has a good engine and will half the work.

I was expecting at least 15 goals though.

I honestly think defences have him sussed. All he needs to do is learn to cut back inside on the odd occasion, that will throw defence plans and it will help the youngsters as well. Considering after the first 6/7 games he had scored that amount of goals the return for the remainder of the year has been poor although he has created goals and is an extremely willing worker, he is supposed to be a striker:mellow:

I made this point in another thread with the beleif that we shouldnt expect to much form Vcc and Vaghan for another year or so:

If beattie goes i think we need a more expeierenced striker than both Vic & Vaghan. We really shouldnt expect much from them they will both hit an inconssistent patch and bad form, its all part of their learning process. I beleive they are two seasons away from starting week in week out for a whole season.

I think we expect too much from the two youg lads, they are very talented but we need to be paitent with them.

Another striker with Jimmy Mac IMO will offer them and the team the support they need to develop thier potential naturally
.

Yeh a great selection of goals for us.

Its improved alot over the past few seasons but the prem has improved in quality.

Beatts and Faddy was brilliant last season v fulham but hardly any goals seem to be that good and we always used to savour them.
