Sorry if this is not what your expecting.

USA and AC Milan defender, Oguchi Onyewu, has requested to play next year at AC Milan for free. This is after missing the whole year due to an injury he suffered in a WC qualifier.

Now thats a class footballer right there. Some people already know this but he is my favorite player because he went to the same school I go to and he grew up in the same town.

(Hats off to Heatmeiser for the link)

When you read the article it’s not quite as generous as it sounds, on a 3 year contract till the end of 2011, misses all of 2009 so tells them if you extend my contract by another year i will play that last year of that contract for free. At The end of 2011 with one year left A C Milan will look to off load rather than lose him on a free. What he has done is made himself look very good with very little chance of it coming down to him playing for free.

I think the point of him doing that was to be able to stay at Milan instead of being off loaded.

Yes he will probably will get to stay at A C Milan for what would have been the last year of the original contract, the point i was trying to make is that there's very little chance of him being there for the last and free year of the new contract If he wants to make the grand gesture why not play next season for nothing, then he would still have a year left at Milan with pay after that.

Having read the full article its not as good as it sounds. But still, it would be very hard to find a professional footballer who would be willing to give up a year's wages just to play for AC Milan.

Its to make up for this year (last year now) where he was payed for not playing.

Heard a rumour that Mido was on a grand a week at The Hammers, which is impressive if true. Gotta be earning something hasn't he?

here is the leaked west ham salaries list to back that up, it makes for amusing reading:

I thought you meant Graham Gooch - he was a fitness advisor at West Ham last year , I think .

Unc' - Out .

I get what your saying now. I didn't read the article correctly where it says that he would play for free in 2013.
