From the Sydney Morning Herald:
"I would chew the arm off any coach who offered me the captaincy," Cahill told The Sun-Herald as he took a respite from getting his body ready for an expected return to club action early next month. "But for my own health and wellbeing, I can't see myself being there for every single match from now on because I have to try and take care of my body a bit better.
"Everybody knows what I've done for Australia and how I've put my hand up for the Olympic Games, the Confederations Cup and the Asian Cup. But I have to take better care of myself physically from now on, and if that means sacrificing a few games playing for my country, it's something I may have to do."
